I've narrowed it down to these two for my upgrade, but I can't make the final call. I can get both on the same price plan, so nothing splitting them there, and both look to have great specs and reviews, but I just wondered if anyone here could add the personal touch on either in terms of pros and cons.

Cheers

I had this same issue a month ago and went HTC. I can't recommend it enough. I haven't out it down since I got it. The only thing that swayed my decision though was that I had an HTC before, apart from that they are very similar phones.

What is the battery life like on the HTC?

Given that it has 64gb storage and that my mp3 player is falling apart, the Beats Audio feature has me leaning towards the HTC and combining the two, but there's no point if the battery dies too quickly and so the mp3 listening on the way to work would stop me actually being able to use the phone during the day.

I have had an S3 for a few months now... battery lasts whole day (just) including two lengthy train journeys... and it does everything I want pretty well... email, FB, eBay, Tapatalk, Chrome, camera for snapshots, music player... oh and it is OK for making calls too. I would have another one if this broke.

You can get beats audio on any Android phone if you try, it's only an eq setting, nothing special.

I don't think either of these phones are all that to be honest. I have the s3 and it's not all is cracked up to be.

What would you recommend (given that I have no interest in an iThing)?

I've opted for the HTC and it arrives tomorrow.

Thanks for all the comments and opinions.

Have the HTC Wildfire at the moment and it's one of the worst phone I've ever had. Can't wait to have an upgrade. Other HTCs are good though.

For the price, and because I'm not convinced any other phone out there at the minute is that amazing, I'd probably get a nexus 4 if I was buying a phone today.

I've had an HTC Sensation in the past and loved it (until I broke the damn thing), so I've no concerns there.

Strange, I had an HTC sensation and it had endless problems. Even when it was replaced multiple times the same problems kept reappearing. Terrible phone.

I had no problems with mine and would happily have used it right up to this day had I not accidentally knackered it.
