HP Photosmart 8050 - techy help needed

I bought an HP Photosmart 8050 printer today in Comet.

I brought it home and I can't get the :censored: cartridges in!

Does anyone else have one of these printers?

There's a plastic lip at the front that seems to be preventing the cartridges going down (both the black and the Colour) but I'm loathe to break it off as it may be important. (There's no mention of breaking it in the manual)

Normally HP printers are a piece of cake to set up but this one is a pain. I have been on to on-line HP support but they weren't much help. I shall proably go back to Comet tomorrow but if anyone can help on this one, I'd be grateful.

Cheers

The cartridges don't install vertically like traditional HP inkjets, but push in horizontally. You should hear a click when pushed fully in.

To remove just pull back out towards you. There should a sticker above where the cartridges sit showing you how they go in. Also look at part 6 of the big A3 size instruction sheet that shows it clearly. There were no plastic clips to remove on my one, but plently of packing tape and cardboard to remove first before powering up. Check inside the printer to make sure you have removed everything before trying to use it!

Its a good printer for the cost Comet ae selling them :)

Got it! Thanks for your help Superseagull.

I agree, for the price (£42) it's excellent.
