Depends if the club sort this complete shambles out over the Summer or not. The current bunch of gutless wonders would struggle to mount any kind of challenge in League 2 and would probably finish bottom half of the table.

Anyone who thinks we'll go up as champions is a mug.

The difference between the standard of League 2 and League 1 is minimal.
We've been rubbish against two League 2 teams already this year.

Have we? We beat Barnet 4-0 and drew away at Shrewsbury and Luton. Okay, we didn't set the world alight, but we're unbeaten in three games.

I'd like to think we'd be challenging for a play-off spot. But then I thought that about this season, so what do I know.

I don't see many of us laughing at that one but it is a possibility:eek:
Indeed. The first thing we've got to do is arrest this slide. We've gone from being a top-ten side (I'll bow to all the Naylorites who insanely still maintain that we didn't REALLY finish seventh last year) to a bottom three side almost without drawing breath. We didn't exactly thrash the mid-table League Two sides we met in various cup competitions this season, so there is no reason (apart from blind optimism) to believe we will do so in League games next season - especially if we have a weaker side as the better players may have left for better clubs.

When we went down in 1996 the team, although crap, put up a bit of a fight. Our current side with it's current attitude would struggle to beat teams like Chester and Grimsby, let alone sides like Brentford. Currently you have to say a double relegation is more likely than a 'bounce back' promotion.

I imagine nearly our entire squad will change so impossible to tell.

I would predict mid-table. Lots of new, League 2 standard players and falling attendances / revenue etc.

I cannot believe anyone who was at MK on saturday would seriously believe that that side could come straight back up.
If Forster and Murray stay and remain fit maybe we could sneak into the play offs..... but thats a big IF.

Which better players?
The only player I can really see leaving (that we'd want to keep) is Murray, and even then his injury troubles this season might make clubs wary.
I think it will be a bigger struggle getting rid of the shit Adams gave contracts to, McLeod and Hawkins in particular. At least the rest are out of contract.
The squad needs a change up but there is still a core of decent players here - Kuipers, Whing, Elhpick, McNulty, Virgo, maybe Lynch if we're lucky, Cox, Forster, Murray. There are a few who would be decent squad members too. We need to cut out the wasters, the rubbish, the deadwood, bring in a couple of actual coaches. But with even competent management in the summer and next season we should be looking upwards.

This current squad are totally lacking in motivation and I dread to think how they'll be in a lower division-best get rid of most of them as soon as possible. They've picked a strange profession to be in if they can't get motivated to give 100% for a maximum of 3 hours playing time a week.

Anyone who thinks we will get relegated are total idiots, i reckon at least three-four clubs in league two will be into administration and get docked points, and we are not as bad as that, league 2 is shite.

We will finish top half.

We will have a massive clear out in the summer, then probably sign 10 players, and we all know what happened this season when we made a load of new signings. It takes time for it all to gel, and will mean another season of waiting for it all to click again. After that we can think about building for Falmer, coming back up and the Championship

Depressing thought, but it is realistically I can see happening.

My thoughts entirely.
