Way out west
4 - 4 - 2 with two strikers and two wingers. Fozzie should be back for the home game and Carole deserves to stay in the team after his best performance since he left for Leeds. Gary Dicker seems out of sorts in the last two games and perhaps neds a day off. Back to 4 - 5 - 1 for Southampton to keep it tight.

I would start with 4- 5 - 1 but prepared to bring on Forster if the occassion needs sooner rather than later, not wait until we are chasing a goal to get back into the game.

Personally, I say CHARGE. I would play Cox on one flank and Bennett on the other, telling them both to stay wide and let Dicker and Crofts do their funky stuff in the centre, and tell Murray and Forster to stay right up top. No donkey work outside the area, forget all that. Rigid 4-4-2 shape with balls FLYING into the box from both flanks and Crofts BOMBING into the box to nod them in if Murray and Forster can't get them. We could absolutely take them apart if we really went for it. They're going to be defensive and they're going to counter attack, they'll want us to have the ball and imo, we should be utilising that. Merciless all out attack and absolutely thump them into submission.

If ain't broke don't fix it. Since going to 4-5-1 we have been on a good roll with only the Swindon result a dissapointment. Shame the goals have dried up but 3 points is 3 points

Showing my age, but I played left-back in a 2-3-5 formation :eek:ldcu*tsmilie:

That's incredible! Back in the day when centre-halves really were centre-halves.

4-5-1 (4-3-3) might work against Tranmere, but I prefer 4-4-2 with one winger. It is simply unrealistic to play with two wingers as you cannot play on two wings and you can't switch the play from one wing to another quick enough. And it means that Murray is isolated. And if you take one winger off Calderon is free as an overlapping full back. But saying that, Bennett can play conventional midfield.

Goalie - left back - right back - left half - centre half - right half - outside left - inside left - centre forward - inside right - outside right

Those were the days :clap2:

Yiu have the line up wrong it was:

1. Goalkeeper
2. Right Back
3. Left Back
4. Right half
5. Centre Half
6. Left Half
7. Outside right
5. Inside right
9. Centre Forward
10 Inside left
11. Outside left.

As long as I can remember teams have always historically numbered right to left.

We're beginning to play with the swagger of a confident side and appear to have not only a Plan B but a Plan C as well.

The question should really be 'How should Tranmere play against US'

If it aint broke dont fix it.

4-5-1 Gonna get flamed for this but thought Carole did ok when he was switched to the Right. Pounced on there left back for our second.

Keep the same, all will be well and another 2-0 win.
