Shrewsbury stroked the ball around very nicely and their performance easily belied their league position. I think we would have been happy to give Chelsea such a decent game. Pity it was decided on an unlucky OG.
Micky Mellon was understandably subdued after the match. However they have taken some very decent scalps in their cup run and are looking good in Lge 2.. He's had some decent backing from his Chairman and virtually rebuilt the playing squad, so appear to be a club on the up.
I happened to be sat next to Micky in our COC game at Burton and he was complimentary about The Albion. He was interested to see Paddy McCourt and Chris O'Grady as he had been their caretaker manager at Barnsley, including when Paddy got 'that goal' at The Amex. Micky also mentioned a couple of anecdotes re managing Paddy.
I'll keep an eye on Shrewsbury this season.
