How much to keep Glenn?

He's been banging in some quality goals recently and at last looking the kind of player we thought he was when he first signed for us, so assuming we move up a division, how much is he worth to us or other clubs who shirley must have him on their shopping list.
I've read somewhere £450,000 (£8,000 a week) is roughly the wage expected in the championship at decent sized clubs and as Glenn is looking for the best contract in his career I would think we'd be looking at £500,000 (£10,000 a week), is that too much and will Bloom pay it (or more) considering it will definitely cost us £1million+ to buy a another quality striker?

My gut feeling (assuming we go up, of course) is that TB will spend enough to make sure we are comfortable in the higher division, without spending silly money. If the management team see that as being Murray, and they think he's worth it, then they'll make it happen (if he's happy here). If he can get silly money elsewhere, it can't be helped.

its a no brainer for the club. lose him and it will cost you so much more money in transfer fees/wages/ agents etc. Give him what he is due and worth (10k in my mind is peanuts for decent strikers at championship level)
sign him on a 3 year deal and part one of "premiership here we come" is complete.

if he goes in the summer we get nothing for him . i would say in contract he is worth 1 million +.To replace him will cost us this amount plus as mentioned above wages etc. sign him up on 10k a week and if he doesnt cut it in the championship at least then we have a saleable asset. we could then sell him to southampton in league 1 for 500 / 750 k

I don't think we have a clue what he's asking or what he's worth in the CHAMPO but all I can say is that I have faith in the club signing him for his true market worth and not penny pinching, now that a permanently sold out theatre of dreams is just around the corner.

Personally always rated Murray, he has delivered perfectly this season. I can't see him leaving.

I have full confidence that the correct decision will be made for all concerned. If we want him and he's happy to stay then he will. If Glenn feels he can do better elsewhere and we feel are able to buy in a good replacement then the he'll go.

Personally I hope he stays he's a terrific player. Also I feel negotitions must be going pretty well, if the Albion thought he'd be off we'd have concluded a deal already. I suspect that the 20 goals will trigger an expensive pre-arranged pay rise.

Seems to be way too happy here for a player on the way out to me

I would hope that we sign him on a contract that the club can afford but taking into account the fact that if he doesnt make the grade in The Championship we know that we can sell him for a very good fee to an ambitious Div 1 side as he has proven to be a good striker in this division. As such he is a very saleable asset.

If he doesnt sign a new contract he is worth nothing to the club. A similar thing happened at United with Rooney, they gave him what he wanted and it is rumoured that they will sell him for mega money during the summer and make a handsome profit.

Not to doom monger but wouldn't the likes of Southampton or Portsmouth be quite happy paying him 15k a week? Make that 20k if they get him on a free transfer? If that happens would we want to match or move on and sign a free transfer target ourselves? If our current 'limit' was 5k raising to 10k in the Champ, if Murray's on double that lots of other starters will expect at least close to it. Also just because a free transfer might need a signing bonus and agent fees, what do you think is different about that to a signing bonus and agent fees for Murray signing a new deal?

My worry would be more that Murray is currently playing for his contract, i.e. putting in great performances that will only increase the value of his contract. The worry would be if he gets a great contract, will his performances drop because the motivation isn't quite there? I haven't seen enough of Murray to comment but there have been times in the past when he has frustrated people because his performances have been below what we know he can produce. I hope he stays.

Weren't his 'frustrating' performances around the same time that he was unhappy and handing in transfer requests? He seems happy and settled now and is also playing his best football for us. I'd like to think the two are linked rather than he's just trying to get himself a juicy pay day. In his most recent interview on seagulls world he talks about the penalty situation and says something to the effect that 'we'll have to work over the summer on them so we dont miss so many next season'. I take that as a positive sign he'll be with us next year.

It would be great to keep him, and I am sure that if Gus wants him to stay, TB will make it happen. It doesn't make much sense to let him leave on a free, when you consider what we would have to pay to replace him. I am convinced he will do well in the championship, look at his improvement since coming here.

Offer him a good deal (for him ) circa 15k a week and he stays. For the club there are pros and cons .IMO the club will offer enough to keep him which will allow a transfer fee if a good offer comes in for him, a bit like Bennetts deal i would imagine .Gus will not stand in players way if they can better themselves ,with the club benefiting as well .

He's interviewed on the mid season dvd that has just been sent out and spoke about his injury problems. He had a double hernia for quite a long time that took a bit of sorting out with surgery. He says he is happier now than he has ever been.

I would offer him a performance related contract. Do the business and get paid well. Not up to standard? then basic money. I certainly would not break the wage structure for an unproven striker at Championship level.

15k a week would seem a bit steep to me. Wouldn't be too comfortable with the club giving him £2.3 million over the next 3 years (take it he will want 3 years).

10/12 k max I would suggest though accept I would probably be shocked by players / agents demands nowadays
