I give you this scenario about transfers,

Brighton approach Villa asking about Henderson Villia quote 150k for him, Mcghee then asks DK for the funds who then turns around and says sorry we cant afford that, why? becasuse have just spunked 150k on a striker that you refuse to play.

150k is not a lot of money but to brighton it is and so far it seems to be wasted.

The Turienzo situation is bizarre.

We've got to the point where we know what CKR can and cannot do. He is clearly a bench player to bring on when we are drawing or behind.

I cannot see that Turienzo will be any worse than CKR was yesterday, so get him involved.

Alas it seems we will never know

We were told Jake and CKR were ones for the future. We then bought El Turi for a decent sized fee - and he hasn't been involved. It seems to me that McGhee has spunked away our money on a very young striker still learning his trade - and one for NOW who he refuses to play.

Whilst we're conceding too many at the moment, we're missing Hinsh who is a class player. Things will get better, and IMO, would be better still if McGhee has spend the Coke money on stiffening up our midfield, instead of buying the two strikers I mention. Sure CKR is one for the future, but not an investment we can afford right now.

I'd liken it to being mortgaged to the eyeballs and then borrowing even more to build a loft conversion - because you'd get more than the cost back when you come to sell the house in ten years time. CKR is the cost of that loft conversion, if you get my drift.

1st season MM in charge.
We win the play off final and promotion with a fairly average side playing average football.

2nd season in charge.
We stay in the championship despite having the smallest budget, losing our captain and our most creative player.

3rd season in charge.
Still piss all money. Lose our 2 best defenders. Manage to play the best football I have seen from a Brighton side in many years and beat the scum 1-0 at smellhurst. Mid November and only just off the pace for survival.

Do I still back McGhee? Stupid question.

Speaking of reasonable... I bumped into the Insider yesterday and he told me your Palarse article was considered too inflammatory for the Palarse programme. Any chance of a sneak preview on here as I'm sure they will water it down for the Derby programme.

The guy has lost the plot! We won't get anyone else to accept the job without a sensible playing budget though. :nono:

In answer to the question how much longer ?

If we are below mid table in div 1 this time next season, i may be questioning my backing of McGhee, anything above that is outperforming expectations, staying in the championship at the end of this season will be F*****g brilliant :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

I have a lot of faith in McGhee but in all fairness the 'doing well in difficult circumstances' argument is a great safety blanket for him.

Where do we draw the line? There has to be a point where the managers contribution is below par of what is expected, even considering the exceptional working conditions.

I think that point is blurred.

MM has my backing. Okay should have made some changes at the end but had we have held a draw or held on to a win we wouldn't be having this thread.

Watching this on Sky we looked brilliant at times but went to pieces later on in the second half.

Lucky Blaney was not sent off although referee here made IMO right decision. Hart was clearly deliberate hand ball although ref should have blown up moments earlier for Palace foul.

If MM were to go who do we get in as caretaker?

It's sometimes very hard to come on NSC after a loss

Ain't that the truth

I really do have to come out of the closet and say I thought yesterday was a superb game of football and about one of our best home performances of the season. We really gave the Sky audience a treat - and when was the last time we could say that - maybe that win over QPR that seems ages ago?

Yes, but a bollocks scenario - no one is suggesting that we are going to miss out on getting our goalie, of which we are spoilt for choice. But maybe you know different ???
