How much is this PC worth?

I need to get a new PC for home and my mate's parents are getting rid of theirs.

I don't quite know how much to offer. Any help on a rough price would be appreciated.


Haven't seen it yet, but these are the basic specs:

Sony 2.6 ghz, 120Gb HDD, flat screen, 512Mb RAM, DVD writer.
It's about a year old.

Depends on the Graphics Card/Motherboard and the type of Processor. You can get a new Dell machine with that Spec for £300 new if it is a Celeron with onboard Graphics and Sound.

I'd go along with that. Try comparing with a new Dell (www.dell.co.uk). Sony's are well made but are frankly overpriced as new. You could also have a look at eBay to get an idea (from the bids) of the value of the machine.

Probably about £400. A quick look at the Mesh website and you can get a new Pc with these specs for £499:
