I would have thought depth will be more like 160mm and so would say 1,730 tonnes of topsoil...

I have it on very good authority that there will be exactly 12 full wheelbarrow loads of the finest topsoil, spread evenly across the whole pitch, making it one of the finest playing surfaces this side of East Brighton park.

If anyone else wants to know any other interesting facts like this, please don't hesitate to ask, i will get the up to date, VERY reliable information and provide you with it.

How many blades of grass will there be?
I will count them to see just how reliable your contacts are.

From the pitch contractor's website

Fibrelastic® is the registered trademark given to totally natural turf growing in a Fibrelastic® Rootzone. It is recommended for top-class professional football and rugby pitches.

A typical Fibrelastic® Rootzone (FERZ) would comprise 80% by volume sand and 20% by volume organic matter reinforced with both Polypropylene and Elastane fibres. The reinforced rootzone is totally premixed at our modern production facility and delivered to site in bulk tipper vehicles.

A typical Football or Rugby pitch of 7,500 m2 would require 1,200 tonnes of FERZ to form the upper rootzone at a depth of 100mm. The importance of this procedure makes it essential for the Fibrelastic® pitch to be laid by a qualified and specialist sportsturf contractor.

Fibrelastic is different to other fibre reinforced sand dominant pitches such as Desso Grassmaster and Xtra Grass. These rely on synthetic grass fibres as the root zone stabiliser.

Fibrelastic uses a blend of materials to reinforce the growing medium for more information, click here

Fibrelastic® pitches are both more player friendly and more groundsman friendly than existing fibre reinforced sand dominant pitches and, as such, represent a further step forward in rootzone technology for natural turf pitches.

No, but I will be EXPECTING a JS Special when the first blade peeks out of the soil.
Anything less and we'll know how dedicated he really is.

Fibrelastic?, what dya wanna know?.

One of the many things our old board didn't pay for was the Fibrelastic pitch we put in last summer (I know but the muppets actually thought the World Cup was coming to England in 2018!!).

Now down in the PROPER South we have an extremely nerdy thing that we cherish greatly called Greens On Screen. Follow the link and you'll have a step by step photographic diary of the installation of a Fibrelastic pitch. You may want to make a coffee first though, it's a labour of love for our Steve.

Enjoy..............

Worth a:bounce: I rekon for the link above to Plymouth's pitch laying. Looks like exactly the same process we've been through. Can't see them spreading any black shite on the pitch though, we must have a different type of rootzone ???

Leeds - but not the dirty bit
That was really interesting, can now picture the stages we are going to go through.
Really quick from seeding to mowing and then finished.

Oooh, are we going to have sprinklers embedded into the pitch that can go off accidentally to provide some comedy moments?

Yeah, we settled on spreading eleven piles of green & white shite round the pitch on alternate Saturdays instead, you don't want any of that, trust me

It plays really well, looks like a bowling green and will last forever.........unlike us!!.

In all seriousness for a passing side such as yourselves it'll give you an advantage, it made Peterborough look like Brazil earlier in the season.
