I once saw Stefan smoking a fag in Frant Road as I walked home after a game he didn't play in I think he may have lived there I wonder if the current residents know a former Romanain captain and Champoins League winner lived there.

I lived in Frant Road [No.8 in fact] for the entire period that Iovan would have been at the club. He didn't live there. There are only 8 houses in the road too, so we would have noticed.

Mark Ormerod did live there for a bit though.

Lawrenson is the only other one who springs to mind.

Michael Robinson played for Liverpool in the 1984 European Cup Final v AS Roma

and spookily enough, the goalkeeper against who he scored the winner in the 83 Cup semi final was Bob Bolder, who was the unused g/k sub for Liverpool in the same match

The Final - May 30th 1984

Liverpool 1 AS Roma 1

Liverpool won 4-2 on penalties

Team : Grobbelaar, Neal, Kennedy, Lawrenson, Whelan, Hansen, Dalglish (Robinson), Lee, Rush, Johnston (Nicol), Souness

Goals : Neal (14)

Penalties : Neal, Souness, Rush, Kennedy

Att : 69,693

Unused Subs : Bolder, Hodgson, Gillespie

Good player Stefan Iovan!

Anyone know if he was picked up by Barry Lloyd?

Yes we had to play a friendly in communist Bucharest as part of the deal. You should read garry nelson's account of that trip in one of his books. He didn't enjoy the cabbage.

and i think there was a reciprocal game at the goldstone

I was at the Goldstone game. I think that we might have gone 3-0 or 4-0 up in the first half. And then they brought the first team on. I think we lost 5-4!
