I've only seen Thornhill twice and both times he's been non existent... other than that, all of them.

Since when was THE SUN an authority on The Albion's players?

I'm about as likely to listen to their views on our players as I am to listen to my cat, Floyd.

Cheshire Cat

The most curious thing..
Based on what I saw at Tranmere, the Sun is being extremely generous. You could take away 4 or 5 points off all of those to be nearer the truth.

Are some of us deluding ourselves that we have a decent team?

The Sun's rating of our players out of 10 on Saturday were:

Kuipers 5
Mc Nulty 5 (Wright 5)
Elphick 4
Virgo 5
Hoyte 5
Dicker 4
Crofts 4
Thornhill 5 (Cox 5)
Bennett 6
Hart 5 (Dickinson 4)
Murray 4

The Sun may have been quite close with their ratings this week but generally thaey just pick numbers out of a hat for any games below The Championship.

More worrying is the fact you read The Sun. Well, that's your credibility out the window isn't it :bigwave:

I blame the wife for buying the Sun. I am more a Times man. However, the serious & smutty works well in our household!

What is worring is the poster who went to the game saying that the Sun was too generous.

I think that we have to be realistic. Whilst we have some good players in flashes and on their day. We are unfortunately no better than a bottom 8 team.

Well they must be league 1 standard or we wouldn't be in the league! I think you mean are they good enough for top half of the table in league one standard. The answer to that is no.

Does on think that Andy Naylor from the Argus has precisely no clue about football when delivering his marks out of ten.

Andy please remember that 5/10 is average!!

If you didnt play well or have an average game then you will get lower marks than 5.

It depends which END of League 1. They are all clearly doing a reasonable job playing at the bottom...

Players I think could be part of a STARTING 11 pushing for promotion or holding its own above? Hmmm....

Tunnicliffe and Elphick - though not together.
McNulty.
Hoyte.
Bennett.
Murray.
Forster.

Oh, so you didn't go then?
It's just that with the amount of threads you are making about it & your comments, I assumed you knew what you were talking about rather than guessing from a distance.

Our problem stems from the fact that we signed Div1 standard players whereas If we seriously wanted promotion at least four signings should have been playing for Championship teams.

Lets look at championship standard, and that basically answers the are they good enough to be chasing promotion quest

Smith
Tunnicliffe
Hoyte
Mcnulty
Bennett
Dicker
Murray

I would have them in my squad in the championship, that is all, the rest are therefore not capable of promotion, shouldnt have been signed and should be let go, all credit to Slade as 4 of those signings are actually his, but the rest of his signing really havn't been too good

Having recently browsed past Page 3 of my intellectually challenging daily, think whoever did the ratings certainly wasn't biased-he obviously thought Tranmere were crap, too,:drink: (apart from Welsh)

They were a lot higher than my personal ratings for this game.
