It does seem to be an endless battle. We should of f***ed off out of all conflicts once Iraq had taken power back off the coalition. Afghanistan is opening up another can of worms.
Do I agree with the war? - No.

However pulling out now will heavily scrutinise our involvement in the first place. Questions would be asked as to why we went in, and to pull out by not completing the job.

To be fair, the Russians didn't lose.

It was much like us, it reached a bloody stalemate and they decided it simply wasn't worth putting the troops in anymore. Plus it was a war of the old generation who had mostly died off by the mid to late '80s when Gorby was on his charm offensive to the West.

Very sad for the families. They should be remembered with others for the ultimate sacrifice BUT when you join the military you agree to serve your country in the capacity they select. That is the contract that you agree too and that is the risk. I, for one, am glad that these young men and women voluntarily decide to do that on my behalf.

People have short memories. The Taliban allowed global terrorists bent on mass murder to be based in the country. Their decision led to the deaths of thousands of innocent people in unbelievable circumstances including my friend Robert Eaton.

If they'd decided to terrorize their own people then (like Darfur) they'd be left alone to take their f___ed up country back to the dark ages.

This thing may have no end game but to leave now is to guarantee a repeat of 9/11, 7/7, Spanish Train bombings, Kenya Embassy etc etc.

Tragic decisions ALL but we have no other clean and simple choice.

Lost more Forces people in a much shorter timespan in Falklands,four times as many in NI over the Troubles.Both were conflicts worth fighting,& give a feeling of pride for being there & accomplishing something,despite all the suffering.Can't help thinking that the Islamic fundamentalist/heroin problem in that area would be better solved with a few cruise missiles topped with W80 warheads.Locals are already Stone-Age.Bomb 'em back even farther!
