I recall that there were around 5000. Seem to recall getting the coach really early in the morning from the old Argus building in North Street - but maybe my memory playing up.

excellent :albion2:

I was there. THE best day of my Albion supporting career, including 2 Cup Finals, 2 playoff finals and various promotions.

I also remember having the best fish and chips EVER just outside Anfield.

And we knew we were going to win when a seagull swooped over the ground!

And the fact that I had the effrontery to go to a game as far away as Anfield formed part of my ex-wife's divorce petition 9 years later - this just made the day even better!

I was on the Kop - very dodgy when we scored, but couldn't move at all as it was too packed. Missed Ryan's goal because the crowd surged forward - as was very common in the old films of Liverpool games in the sixties & seventies. Abiding memory was the magnificence of Fozzie, despite constant chants of "F**k off Foster"

Ah yes I was on coach 25 from Pool Valley....
Happy Days

I got a coach from Haywards Heath.

My abiding memory other than the game was the line of Southdown coaches parked nose to tail in a street. Then at the end of the game walking along them all to try and work out which was yours.

We were given 7k squeezed in the corner and seats probably more, i think 33 coaches left from sussex that day it was a sunday so trains were few and far between, great day.

It was 7,000. And the best day of my Albion life too. I was jammed in the standing corner with my sister and 3,000 others. I remember the very young kids giving us a friendly welcome to Merseyside and yes all the coaches lined up on the dual carraigeway. Melia tried to milk the kop at the end but they gave him the bird. When Case scored with the shot deflected off Ronnie Whelan just after the scouse had equalised there was that delicious moment, a suspension of belief from the whole ground, before we all went apeshit. That moment will live with me forever.

and me. Much as it was a great day, for me my best Albion day is still Newcastle '79 though.

Best days (personal) - top 10
Highbury 1983
Goldstone 26/4/1965 (look it up)
Wembley 1983
Anfield 1983
Goldstone 18/8/1979 (although we lost 0-4)
Molyneux 21/12/1979 (A Wardy hat trick not many people saw- on an ice rink)
Goldstone 29/4/1978 - glorious (& cheated losers)
White Hart Lane Nov 1977 - 48,000 - we were in the big time at last (0-0)
The Valley 12/1/1974 - my biggest ever away win (& Cloughie)
Goldstone 27/11/1965 Nine + for the second time in a fortnight.
