I've always hated them since 1983 when 9,000 Chelsea morons in a 21,000 crowd caused a riot at The Goldstone. Since then of course, there's the delusions of grandeur which really don't befit a club who got a Premiership gate of 7,300 only a decade ago.

Man Utd on the other hand are a proper big club.

why coldplay? other than the fact the martin is a cock who embarassed himself at the brits by trying and failing to make some misguided political point on Bush. No actually your right! Where do I sign!

I like Coldplay. I have always hated Chelsea - almost as much as Man United. Even less between them now.

I must admit I can't stand Chelsea!

The supporters who started going to Stamford Bridge about a decade before all the money started splashing about are generally down to earth and deserve to enjoy the success they've had.

It's the new breed of arrogant, bulging pocketed, arsehole Chelsea fans, who have delusions of grandeur that piss me off! (Unfortunatley some Brighton fans have delusions of grandeur aswell!)

Chelsea have always been too full of themselves for their meagre achievements, have a lot of hoolies that regularly also shame England (I remember that 83 game - which, incredibly, came after they won and were in a really good mood), more recently a lot of nouveau media twat fans, and have been the most expensive London club along with Spurs since about 1980. They also took to the field in the Champions League a couple of years ago, representing this country, without a single Englishman. Ken Bates. How many more reasons do you need to hate them?

If they challenge Utd for the title, I'll have no problem with it. I could never hate them as much as Man U - my antipathy for that lot goes back to '83 and is far too deep rooted to be overtaken by some bunch of Johnny-Come-Lateleys as Chelsea.

I have to (politely!) disagree with you Tooting - clubs in the Champions League absolutely do not represent their country. They are there for their own self serving interests, hence the reason the format has been tinkered with to all but ensure the big boys are always in it. The thought of Utd representing me (as an Englishman) in that giant money-making enterprise makes me shudder.

By the way, was that you I saw outside Tooting overland station in a 70's Wardy shirt last week?

its called being british we hate flash successful anything!

Then followers of teams like Man Utd and Chelsea must be the exception to the rule!

I know it's not fair to generalise, as there are genuine fans, but I get the impression that many people who do "support" them have a low sense of self esteem having achieved little themselves, hence they feel the need to attach themselves to something successful - the glory-seeking mentality. Peer pressure is responsible for much of this in children. Youngsters find it difficult not to conform and "support" the teams that get the most media coverage. Fortunately some grow out of it! I'm glad to say my children never succumbed and have supported no other team than their local one - Brighton.

LOL . Almost certainly, I live round the corner. :lolol:

I know technically you're absolutely right about the Champions League, but I do prefer to see English teams doing well, and with English players in the team. It's a personal thing.
