when he was down here, I didnt think he was brilliant, however he was solid, powerful and bossed our defence.

Everytime you see him on telly now ( Sunderland last night) he looks like a lubering cart horse.

His challenge yesterday that led to Villa's penalty was horrendous and he al;most scored an own goal.

Could do a job?

Just too much was asked of him too quickly. Was great for us and West Brom, then was asked to make the jump to being a key player for sides that would struggle in the prem (Sunderland, Hull).

Hasn't yet had a bad game for Ireland.

Championship and the Premier League are very different though, any mistake at that level is usually punished. You can get away with much more in the championship.

I don't think he wants to be at Sunderland, he loved playing at Hull and he found his feet there.

How did you work that out? Forgive me, but every time i watched match of the day he was wither giving away needless tackles, mnaking really bad judgements at the back, letting sloppy goals in, or getting booked / sent off!! Don't think i saw a match with him at hull where he "found his feet."

I concur, However I do think he did want to leave Sunderland under Keane.

How about when he netted the opener at Anfield?

just goes to show the HUGE gap between the premiership and the championship. and when you consider how good mcshane was for us, makes it even more ludicrous that people think that elphick could make it in the top flight
