Same here. We have 16 games to go, are 9th, and all things considered I’m happy with where we are and what we have. If this squad can get us to 9th at this stage I’m reasonably confident it’s adequate to keep us there…. even without BDB. Then we can concentrate on attacking options in the summer which is a far better time to do business.

Honestly, I thought we could never again approach the bs level of last summer, but this winter window has been almost as bad. Not for the Bissouma rumours (Aston Villa? Really?) but for nonsense like the Joe Rodon stories. Just because Rodon used to play for Potter, lazy, know-nothing work experience kids on websites assume that GP would want to sign him, ignoring the fact that he hasn't signed any other former Swansea players. They also assume that we must want to replace Burn, not bothering to find out whether we had any young players such as Haydon Roberts waiting to step up to fill the gap (see also Leicester-Maguire-Dunk-Soyuncu).

People like Fabrice Hawkins (who? Exactly) are suddenly all-seeing transfer gurus, and some deluded people even believe those Sky muppets. Spotty oiks two weeks out of sports journalism courses are referred to as "journalist" by other equally inexperienced novices. Jeebus.

January 2013 we brought in Ulloa, January 18 we re-loaned him back from Leicester. The man from Argentina was immense in his first spell. The limbs and shear euphoria away at Forest on final day, one of my favourite Albion moments ever.

Voted underwhelmed but also accept that Uncle Tony's model is get cheap players in and hope to sell them on eventually. Doubt we'll be signing a marquee player for the next few years.

Also understand the thinking behind not doing loans in but sometimes wished we'd loan in good players that are out of favour at Big6 clubs. The logical part of my brain knows we couldn't afford their wages but doesn't stop me wanting it to happen.

Remarkably relaxed about it all.

In theory we're weaker without BDB because of how good his form has been but in reality whether we play back four or back three we're stocked in that department with very good players. Factor in other bits like the profit on the deal etc. and it makes complete sense as a transfer.

We've got Biss here until at least the end of this season. Lamptey ditto.

I listened to West Ham and Everton fans on Talksport this morning (Yes, I know!) They probably don't represent the fan-base at large, but I was left with sentiments of delusion with both that help me put our business into perspective. The West Ham fan was horrified at their lack of ambition to "push-on to the next level" and secure a top 4 spot.. No sense of perspective of where they are vs. realistic expectation, a quick return to the lack of ambition of the Board that was the narrative of their fans before Moyes v2.0 started delivering. No memory of Haller or others with hefty price tags that presumably showed ambition at the time but took them nowhere. The Everton fan, absolutely cock-a-hoop that they have a big name as a manager, bought two currently "failing" players, one on loan, and this is therefore the turning point of their season. No sense of a gamble or risk; no mention of new, clear strategy, the lack of which had seen off previous managers and demands to get rid of the owners. All in all, the extremes of fan reactions help me say we are sticking to a strategy and joined up thinking that has seen us develop and grow, create assets that will fund our future development and wont risk that for a one-season punt. It doesnt always feel exciting, and of course there is no guarantees that choices we make in terms of personnel will always pay-off, but have to accept that as things stand, we are in a prime position to finish the season in our best ever position and look forward to the next chapter..

The delusions of fans at other clubs are some of the great joys of football. My all-time favourite was a post on a Portsmouth fan site after they'd gone bust and the administrators were selling players. The writer wanted to know how this was going to get them back into Europe "where we need to be."
