[Football] How do we improve next season?

Most people may think "it's too early to talk about next season", but I can't help thinking about it

This season, Brighton is likely to finish 4th to 7th. If Brighton can improve further for next season, it means we can seriously target at winning Premier League 2023 - 2024 .

Tbh, given the age & upside potential of many of our squad, the focus has to be on 1) retaining those we've got and 2) adding more & even higher potential youngsters from round the world

Not my personal view (I think Sanchez is fantastic) but I presume given the recent issues in that position, we could be looking for a new keeper

On a serious note, "we" will absolutely be looking somehow for further improvement next season. But it is very hard to believe that we can have much success in fighting it out for position (behind Man City and Arsenal) with Man United, Liverpool, Newcastle, Tottenham and Chelsea...

Lots of great football from us and good matches, decent cup runs and finish 8-10 in the league would be a very successful season next time round.

I don't know that we would be looking to improve league position. If we finish 4th-7th that means Europe, and that means extra games distractions. Look at West Ham this season, look at Burnley when they made it to Europe. I think improvement next season would be maintaining a top half finish despite any European adventures.

Of course, it's also possible we finish 8th or lower and miss out on Europe, in which case next season improvement would be finishing further up the table and hopefully Europe.

I think this summer is the most crucial since we got promoted for three reasons:

1. We will finish in a record high position which we need to leverage by sensibly locking in current talent to longer deals where possible and possibly be ruthless in selling those we believe have either reached their ceiling or valuation is met.

2. Our new recruitment structure will be in place and we need to execute decisively and early - whether that be the 1 or 2 first team ready signings we def need or the youth conveyor belt.

3. We have to give RDZ belief that our ambitions match his and ideally increase the length of his contract to ward off the many suitors that will come in.

I have strong belief all three will be accomplished in our usual quiet efficient manner.

2. Sign the best up and coming kids from around the world.

(I suspect there is a slightly different plan regarding a couple/few '1st team ready' recruits if we end up in Europe)

If we get into Europe we would need 2 or 3 more experienced players ready to go rather than 18 year olds learning .We would need a bigger squad for sure .

ALWAYS start each season looking to avoid relegation and hitting 40 points as soon as possible whilst aiming high. It's dead easy in this league to go on a bad run and find yourself in big trouble especially if we did qualify for Europe. BUT even my mindset has become marginally more optimistic now and no reason we can't aim for top 4 and I'm sure the club are well prepared. I'm even prepared to accept we are safe from relegation this season .

If we don't embarrass ourselves in the European group stages (if we manage to get there) an finish top 10 it would be a successful season.

You mentioned Man City, Arsenal, Man United, Liverpool, New Castle, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Arsenal:
Arsenal winning Premier League is something we can only see once in 20 years, so if they win this season, we won't see it till 2040

Man City:
They broke Financial Fair Play rules, so they'll be relegated

Chelsea:
They are only good at spending a lot for getting overrated players

Tottenham:
Since I started watching Premier League, I don't think they have won Premier League, and they don't look very good now, so they won't win next season

New Castle:
They are not considered as a "top club" yet, so even if they offer huge wages, not many very top players choose to play for New Castle next season (I hope so)

Liverpool:
They have been an "easy opponent" this season for us, so if we can improve, they will finish behind us next season


So, next season is Brighton or Man U

Seriously speaking, I think we need a "serious striker" / Center Forward.

Welbeck and Undav, they haven't scored enough at all. Ferguson is a very potential lad and I think he will keep improving but we can't expect 19 year old boy too much.

Better players. It's the only way really. Players will be even more used to RDZBALL but ultimately, as good as this squad is, better players will make us better.
