Its on the table behind me and keeping "binging" with all the notifications coming through.
I've turned the sound right down but still doing it!
Driving me mad.

Thank you!

My sanity is going to be restored. TWOCHOICEStom is that a new one or did you get your stolen one back?

er, try
settings > sounds
and then turn off whatever sounds are causing the binging (emails, messages whatever)

Put it in another room if all else fails.

Another question, is there a setting to stop my iPhone suggesting the nearest wifi connection every time I use the Internet using 3G. NO .... I don't want to connect to Eric's wifi. It's beyond irritating

Thank you. Will it still automatically connect to my own wifi at home though?

Yup, should do -- once you've connected to your home network once, it should recognise it and connect each time it comes within range (unless you deliberately tell it not to - there's a "forget this network" setting to do that).

Thanks for advice. I have limitless 3G so it was getting annoying
