Have to agree, he may well succeed but its a huge jump up in quality of opposition defenders. maybe Celtic/Rangers are about top championship, bottom PL level. The next best are no better than bottom half Championship, with a load more L1 level.

Harry Wilson was banging them in for fun at Derby, nowhere near as prolific last season. Jared Bowen from Hull (on fire) to West Ham (struggled). Maupay is making transition well, but he was half the alleged fee of Eduoard. You'd think a pretty rpolific PSV player (better league than Scottish) would do well here, he was a total flop and waste of money

Its another dutch league type punt - at north of 30 million I wouldn't personally. I'd take Batshuayi at much less than half that

Don't necessarily disagree with your analysis on the level of Scottish football but I think it's much less of a gamble than buying from Holland, as there's a similar physical style, they're technically not moving country etc.

All the recent SPL-PL moves that I can think of have worked out relatively well: Robertson, Van Dijk, Armstrong, Tierney, Wanyama, Forster (to begin with), John McGinn. We certainly did well with Kayal, admittedly mostly in the championship.

Been trying to keep this thread alive as you know - best striker we’re linked with...! Argus article is a rehash of some crappy site article I read yesterday though - even the same tweets quoted. One where a kid says ‘get rid of white and get this guy’ really hope the players don’t see this sort of bollocks ever!

So we are in the race, but again, they just say we're one of the clubs chasing him. Great news - but not new news is it?

Front runners is a bit of journo speak admittedly, but we are the only club mentioned in the L’Equipe article. L’Equipe is an impeccable source for French players, they tend to follow French players careers in the UK very closely. Who knows, they may have info from other sources.

At least for me this story has now gone from rumour to reality. Whether we get him, who knows. But looks like we’re trying.
