[Albion] How close is this squad to being top 4?

Me too. Walk, don't run - at the moment - and maybe always - the CL is likely to be a step too far. A season in the (potentially winnable) Conference League, although not as lucrative as the others, would be a wonderful learning curve in European football (and a fantastic chance for those stalwarts who travel to Albion matches all over, a chance to visit the likes of Qarabag or Bodo Glimpt)!- is that at Bodo or at Glimpt I wonder?
Want Europe don’t want champions lge be very happy with conference lge
Madness imo. It’s the biggest competition in world football. I’d give my left leg for a season at it even if we lost every game. The chance of a Real Madrid / Barcelona / Bayern at home in a competitive match? It would be once in a lifetime stuff

Unfortunately, it would be a once in a lifetime stuffing!

I think we could but I do worry about Palace going on a run and sneaking in there.
They've got a couple of buffet matches coming up against Ipswich Town and Southampton (although Southampton is more of an 'all you can eat'). They then play us. So realistically they could be level with us in three matches time if all doesn't go well. They do have a tougher run in though. The match at Selhurst is a big one.

The Conference/Europa League would be more pleasant experiences as we are always going to be one of the top 3 candidates to win those competitions when participating - such is the strength of the Premier League.

But playing in the Champions League is such a monumental change in the finances and perception of a football club. Most importantly it satisfies one of the main dreams of nearly every player: to compete with the best and biggest teams in the world in the most glorious of club competitions.

The income from CL and the ability to satisfy most (I mean, they'll still want to play for Real or Barca or so) urges from the players means we would be substantially less likely to sell our best players. And being able to keep our best players would mean that we could win the Premier League.

Conference League/Europa League = fun
Champions League = a gigantic step towards becoming a real powerhouse in football

Leicester got to the quarters of the champions league .

It would be good while it lasted but it wouldn’t change much for us

Any type of Europe would do me . Amazing memories from the last trips

Who cares? It’s an ‘I was there’ moment in 50 years time. Exactly as the Roma away game will be despite the result
Exactly. An away game in Barcelona or Madrid in a group game would see 7-8,000 make the trip - maybe more.
Why wouldn't you go if you could? We'd be unlikely to play them again in meaningful competition.

Meanwhile, we'd enjoy giving Palace another patronising pat on the head for finishing 10th again. 👍

Sure, qualifiying for CL doesn't count for much if you throw it all away and get relegated from the league through doing useless business for several years, but I don't think that would be a problem for us.
