How can you call Dick Knight, Dick Tight?

Are we not starting to bring players in now? Ok there on Loan until the end of the season but at least the board, Micky are trying their bloody hardest to get new players in to the club.

I don't think we should be complaining anymore. Now I still and will insist that Micky is the right man for this job.

Is it my hangover, or does this post not make sense? You're saying that Dick Knight is not tight because... he hasn't spent any money and MA is trying hard?

I get what you mean.

I have been somewhat impressed with out signings, although I am slightly concerned that we have only tied up players until the end of the season. I would still like to see a left back, but I am sure that they are doing everything they can.

I posted a comment a while ago, that I had heard from a senior member of the club staff, that the board were intending to spend a lot in this window on bringing in players;

Chris Birchall
Jason Jarrett
Seb Carole
Calvin Andrew

Ok, only till the end of the season which is disappointing, but I bet that lot didn't come cheap (well maybe Carole), all have played at higher levels. We all want to see players in other positions coming into the club, but I don't think we should fault the club for their efforts so far. It is a difficult task encouraging players to the Albion, Withdean, expensive area etc, we have been told that by past managers, and players. DK has vowed not to get the club into a bad financial situation, and he should be applauded for those efforts.

Fingers crossed for one or two more players in, Comon You Super Seagulls!

OK, he is bringing people in, but so far only to replace those loan signings who have left or players who are being sold like Robinson.

Like when we signed Murray etc but had already sold Revell, Elder and Hammond.

Encouraging, and certainly on paper it is improving the squad, but lets not start pretending Dick is splashing the cash.

Even if we do sign people, I doubt it will be Dick's cash being used anyway...

Dick does the buying. He splashes the club's cash. Why does it have to be his?

Maybe this confirms my view that there is going to be a massive clear-out in the summer?

Which is not disappointing, but exciting.

I hope the present squad doesn't share your view.

If they do, I,m sure they,ll push themselves to very limit to help this "exciting" prospect, of being unemployed.

?? Surely if any player works hard and "push themselves to the very limit" then they'll reduce their chances of being shipped out in the Summer?

and even if they are the victim of a clearout then by working hard they increase their chances of being picked up by another club?

Like the clear-out we had LAST summer, until Adams re-signed some of them...

Exactly.

The only reason Dick is trying to bring anyone in is because his head is in the guillotine and it's approaching midday.

It still does not make sense to bring in new players and put them on a short contract to dump them in the summer. Why not get the players he wants now (if they are available for transfer)?

I would guess that most of the players we wanted were unwilling to come and take part in a relegation scrap, therefore we have had to gamble on good player who are down on their luck (Carole, Birchall and Jarrett are all from a higher level but only have a few games between them all season so far). If they come good we can offer them longer details, if not we are not obliged to pay their wages beond the end of the season.

It makes sense to me.

He's only spending money since we might get relegated. I didn't see him splash any money out in the summer.

There are lots of (potential) reasons.

Livermore, Hawkins, McLeod were the players Adams wanted, we gave them two tear contracts. Once bitten twice shy and all that.

They may have thought that getting the players in they did in the summer was going to be good enough Mcleod, Livermore Hawkins, plus the other loans, but I guess it backfired, we signed some lame ducks, so now the board has decided to spend even more. Let's not forget, we have spent more in the past 12 months than we possibly ever have done in the past.

It must be a gamble when you bring in new players (and managers) and they don't work out how you expect. Of course, there are many posters on this site who would have done better, but of course, to have that oppertunity you have to be willing to spunk thousands of pounds of your own money, month in month out, just to keep the club we all love afloat.

If only a sugar daddy would come along with a couple of billion, but hey ho, so far no-one has made that offer. Probably because, at the end of the day, what Archer did to us.
