How can I get to Stansted for cheap?

Good call. £9 each from Victoria. Seems doable. BUT getting to Vicky would still cost us £25 each on stupid rush hour trains. Is there a cheap morning coach to London?

ouch...try national express to london but it is one of the most "pain in the arse" journeys on this planet as it TRUNDLES its way through south london

especially if it's the first leg of your journey.....I personally wouldn't have the mental strength for that

life is all about compromises, you've got your tickets from a no frills airline for £15, now you're moaning about the cost of getting to the airport to get said flight. If you total it all up, might Gatwick have been a better shout?

I always take the National Express. Fun bus from London to Brighton is £1 IIRC, and getting to London was about £10 -- cheap as chips, almost.

Have to be careful as Stansted buses from London can get held up - seen lots of people with missed flights at Stansted who thought buses would get there on time. Airparks is cheapest off-site car parking or book nearby Premier Travel/Inn or Travelodge in advance as parking through them is discounted - some budget hotels include parking as part of package. Stansted and Gatwick Express trains are a rip-off bearing in mind London Euston to Birmingham International (off-peak) single is about a tenner.

As someone else posted, you can get one way car hire from most companies... Just book for half day each way... Will cost less than trains or coaches. Failing that just drop a friend their fuel money and bring them some duty frees back. You must know someone that would do this.

f*** me mate if you think £9.50 is steep wait until you buy a pint in Stockholm!

I recommend the following:

Buy National express ticket online
Save it on your computer
Ring and cancel ticket immediately
Print off your saved e ticket
Present this to the driver at Poole valley as you board Stannie bus...believe me the driver does not check.
Go to Stanstead for nothing
National Express eventually go out of business

I did this once when I was very very poor. I have lived with the shame ever since. I have also figured out that you can park for nowt at Stansted if you park in the little village on the periphery of the airport and just walk over to the terminal. Pikey I know but I was well skint.

give terravision a go.......I must've got lucky with national express, their cheaper fares do sell out quickly (especially in summer....i went out of "season" a couple of months ago)

where abouts in sweden are you going?

I am going to Wallander country, Skane.

And thanks for the suggestions all. It seems I either blag a lift from somebody or hire a car each way. Whilst a coach from London is reasonable, getting to London is not. Really is stupid that hiring a car is cheaper than using public transport
