Skyscanner still showing good prices from LGW flying Vueling. Are these charter extra flights? £120 return approx, check it out.

Ah yes. Still, I'll be going from a proper airport where you don't have to walk across a field, close to Brighton and where the flight will be full of Albion.
Haha nonsense. Stansted express from Tottenham hale or Liverpool street takes you straight to the airport departures no fields !! And as the price is now 10x what I paid for it I guess it will be 90% Albion fans

Had to go round the Ryan Air booking process 6 times with it throwing me out as prices increased once the tickets were in my basket. Outrageous. Got in eventually for a Wed flight out of Stanstead for £60. Gonna navigate coming home once ticket secured.
Same for me....gave up after the 4th attempt (esp as each time the prices were higher), and decided to go to Milan instead and take the train from there. Flight to Milan was £21.99 with easyJet. Flight back is €81 with BA. Trains from Milan to Rome are about €25 - €45 each way, depending on time.

Looks like a lot of posters don't understand the airline's dynamic pricing models. Of course prices will rise at payment stage if more seats are sold in the time between you searching for them and trying to confirm payment. The price shown is only valid at point of search request.

We managed to get BA on Vueling from LGW for just over 200 each.

We had a similar experience. Booked a return flight from Pisa.

I have been reliably informed the trick was to have flights in the basket before the draw was made
Didn’t work for me, kicked me out

They all went a while ago.

All the flight search engines are largely useless at periods of high demand - their prices are all old.

Deserves it's own thread. Due to flight prices soaring I have opted to fly to Milan on Wednesday morning and get the train (3 hours) to Rome. I'm also flying from Milan Friday evening.
That's exactly what we're doing.

Sorry 'old man alert', but is this not actually a form of touting/profiteering or is this all part of a free market economy?

Nah.

When availability reduces, prices go up - we all know that's how it works with flight prices. Usually that takes days, weeks or months to play out. In situations like today, it happens in a few minutes.

It wasn't someone sitting at a computer, noticing Brighton were away at Roma and putting all the prices up, we put the prices up ourselves by all trying to buy simultaneously.

Flights booked with Vueling from Gatwick to Florence, out Wednesday morning, back Saturday afternoon.

1.5hr train ride to Rome, two nights there: head back to Florence around Friday lunchtime, bit of sightseeing, final night there, fly home.

Lovely.

I got kicked out twice booking flights from Manchester. Went up from £140 to £180 in 10 minutes. Flying out Tuesday pm, back Friday am.
