How and Why did you become a seagulls fan ?

Glass Case of EMOTION
I went to the sheffield utd friendly because all my mate next to me would do at school was talk about the albion in english. So I had to try it out. he took me to me first game (sheff utd 3-2 albion) and since then have supported ever since. People thought I was jumping on the bandwagon cause we'd just won the div 3 title but since then i have seen us lift the div 2 and be relegated from div 1 when I was a season ticket holder. and I sat through the rain against bradford city (2nd November 2002) just 1 and a half hours after getting off the plane from my hols in sunny portugal.

How and why did you start supporting the albion ?

Well my old man was never into any sort of sport but our next door neighbour was. He wanted to go and see us play Brimingham City in the old League Cup. He invited ny brother and me along and that's how it started, it was 1968 and I was 14.

The fact that we beat them 2-0 and they were in a higher dividion might have been a factor.

As a newcomer to Brighton in the mid 70's I first went to the Goldstone to see just how good Malcolm Allisons young pacesetters were. The most talked about player outside division one was Peter Taylor and the team that looked like running away with league division three was Crystal Palace.

Brighton won 2-0 and Harry Wilson had Taylor in his pocket. 33,000 unsegregated crowd and I was hooked

Both my Grandad's, all my Uncles, my Aunty and my Mum and Dad all supported the Albion, so there was only one team I was ever going to support.

My first game was just after the FA Cup final, can't remember who we played but I've hardly missed a home game since and had a season ticket for at least the last 13 years.

My Dad was a lifelong Albion fan. He always wanted a son but got me instead. So he took his daughter to matches and I have been going ever since.

My first match was roughly 61/62

I grew up in Chelmsford in Essex so used to watch them in the Southern league. With no proper team to support I did what all kids did and supported Man United (the '68 European Cup Final was the first match I ever saw and I was hooked).

Moved to Brighton in 1974 and used to watch them a few times each season each season, but was not hooked.

Went to Manchester University in 1980 and used to stand on the terraces in the Stretford End each week, thought it was what I wanted.

The Albion played United at home in October/November 1980 and I came down to watch it as a United fan, saw them thrash the Albion 4-1, yet came away as a Brighton fan. I have no idea why the transformation occured. Since then United have won 9 championships, countless cups, have a huge stadium and play some excellent football, but I would not swap it for a Tuesday night in Scunthorpe watching Peter Smith slice the ball into the crowd for 14th time of the match. Love is a mysterious power

Moved to Sussex (aged 8), started going to the Goldstone and it just grew from there. In the early days though I was a Chelsea fan and thought 3rd Division Brighton were virtually non-league. It wasn't until about 1970 that I became a full-on Brighton fan.

Life sentence given at birth.

My grandfather was a season ticket holder.

My Dad went to most games and started taking me when I was about four years old. Standing on a box at the front, away trips to Pompey and Charlton.

In the blood now and I've served 46 years with no parole.

Was taken to the Goldstone for me birthday in 1987 by my dad, who has no real interest in football and watched the Albion beat Sheff United 2-1 I think, great to watch a team that was only 30mins away and it only cost £3.50 in those days!

At the foot of the downs
dad and his work mates used to take me to the north stand when I was a little boy and I enjoyed it and stuck with it to this day, obviously I now go to a different ground

My uncle used to play in a band and he used to play some of teh albion gigs - non of my family ever went to games though. When i was about 18 i started a job where the lads were albion fans, they offered to take me to a game.

First game was york city - it lasted 15 mins (as you all know) and i was hooked from then on!!!

Grandad supported them and my earliest memory is standing in the East stdand with him and my old man watching (I think) Sunderland. Been a fan since before I knew it, or in other words all my life!

Dad supported them since he was a boy. I was bought up Albion. I bleed Blue and White, and will do forevermore.

Went to see Brighton Vs Ipswich in 1982, I liked Ipswich because their badge was the best in the panini stiker albums at that time - think I went with the intention of supporting Ipswich but was converted to Brighton before kick off. Only missed a couple of home matches all season and it ended in a cup final. Not a bad 1st season.
