Horsham beat AFC Wimbledon tonight 5-4 on pens in the FA Cup.

1-1 at full time. AFC were the better team in the first half, Horsham in the second.Extra time was poor. Ref sent off a Horsham player for 2 yellows, then realised it was his first booking!

Stuart Myall came on for Horsham, looking very fat, but still a good defender. Also scored a pen, and ran to the AFC fans to show off his belly!

Crowd just over 1200 of which I would say at least half were AFC.

Horsham have a very winnable game at Chippenham in the next round.

Well done Hornets, fair chance of making the first round proper, nice to see the club on the up.

Thanks for the update, I live within earshot of the ground and heard a huge cheer at about 10:25 which I guessed was a win on pens. How did you manage to post so quickly after the game?

Also good to see Myall still playing, he used to get me and a mate comps when he was playing for the Albion.

Bring on Chippenham.

From the WSCT:

HORSHAM became the first side to beat AFC Wimbledon in a penalty shootout on Tuesday evening as they dumped them out of the FA Cup.
After a 1-1 draw, the Hornets won 5-4 on penalties with Mansfield pulling off an excellent save and Lee Carney hitting the winner.

Manager John Maggs was full of praise for his troops but claimed the credit for Mansfield's stop at the start of the shootout which set the tone.

"The first save by Alan, I'm sorry but I'm going to take the credit," said Maggs. "I talked him through it, I saved ten penalties on the trot which was a record and I ended up on TV. I told him what to do and it worked a dream - that put us on our way.

"We've missed one to level it up, then Cham going last of the five, I thought 'is the script writen?' But he's taken it under pressure and then Lee Carney wraps it up for us."

Maggs added: "I am proud of my lads tonight because they were absolutely legless, Lee Carney didn't want to take a penalty. He said 'I don't think I've got energy to put the ball in the net'. But I tell you what, he stood up there and he's got the winner. So all credit to them."

I do hope so. I've been waiting a long time to see us in the 1st round. I was told I was too young to go to the Swindon game (1967 ?).
