Ours has finally died. After months of having to stand on the on/off switch just to keep it (tricky as you drag you thing along behind you) i think its finally bitten the big scone. Zero suction.

Tempted to buy another Henry mainly because they are only a oner and they are pretty much bullet proof (the one thing the ex wife ensured me i would NOT be taking was Henry), but are there any better options?

Not too keen on doing my balls on a Dyson because i've heard they are built about as well as a paper hat so something cheap, durable and preferably with a smiley face (although face not essential)

What makes you think Dysons don't last? I still have a DC02 which is their second model and it's still going strong. It must be around 15-16 years old now.

Isn't it strange that people refer to vacuum cleaners as Hoovers, that is a brand name. How can a Dyson be a hoover?

I'd reccomend Miele.
I got one because they are the brand you are most likely to be satisfied with according to Which or someone similar.

I swear every time I hear someone mention 'hoovers', someone says what you've just said :lolol:

My Dad's got 2 of them (one for indoors and one for outdoors) swears by them but a tad on the pricey side for me

We have a Panasonic upright. Thoroughly recommended, solid fast and reliable. I prefer it to Dysons and Mieles I have owned in the past. Before this one we had a 50 quid Samsung, which was totally useless.

Vankleek Hill, actually....
Get one of these. Just set it to clean the floor when you're at work and the floors and carpets are all done when you get home. Works for me and no back strain to complain about.

Mate who runs an electrical goods shop told me to get a Miele about 6 years ago, still works perfectly, worth the extra imo!

I have something very similar (although different colour as mentioned) by Hoover and it's pretty good. The one thing I don't like about it is the power cord enters the machine at the bottom and I keep standing on the cord when hoovering. Cost about £70 I think on special offer from Argos.

Pretty spot on. It is very powerful for the money and has a height adjustment depending on your type of carpet/flooring.

For the money, this is right up there in my opinion

Same problem here , also find the cord is a little bit shorter than normal.
