Next Saturday at Withdean, just for byf and bhafc4eva, the theme will be party blowers, along with kazoos, klaxons, giant foam hands, streamers, party poppers, balloons, whistles, klackers, steel drums, and the Balfour Junior School Year Six Orchestra playing Kum Bah Yah on recorders. Party bags for all at the end

:p

I wasn't aware that there was a set type of atmosphere that should be generated at a football match.
Are we restricted to songs about the sexual practices of the Welsh, or Coppell being inflicted with an STD?
The club is generating an atmosphere through the children, because the so called regular support is failing to. If you cannot drown out these horns with singing, then the atmosphere of the horns is more than welcome.

Why not have a "Moaning Old Bastards" Day, where all the miserable, humourless old gimmers can sit together in one stand and complain about kids today, noise, Henderson, the weather, McGhee, hoodies, yobs, keeping the pound, young drivers, Kerry Mayo, asylum seekers, bananas being sold in metric weight rather than pounds & ounces, Brighton's rubbish collection problems, and anything else that takes your fancy?

(Maybe you could still bring your knives anyway and have a mass suicide at the final whistle?)

Personally I thought the horns were fantastic - admittedly, I wasn't sat amongst them.

It created a noisy atmosphere which Withdean drastically needs, the stands were full, and we finally had the next generation of supporters at a game, enjoying themselves.

My son is 5 years old, and would be absolutely bored to tears sat in with me and my mates in D Block, surrounded by people who will turn round and tell you off for sitting there chatting. But get him in that family stand, with a horn or a claxon, surrounded my other kids in there screaming, shouting and having a laugh, and he'd probably have a superb time.

So where the problem is with that I really don't understand.

We've had those days every week for about 2 years! Time for a change.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
One of my favourite songs is Honk If You're Lonely Tonight by the Silver Jews.

Honk if you're lonely tonight
If you need a friend to get through the night
A toot on your horn, a flash of your brights
Honk if you're lonely tonight.

Spot on. I have been reluctant to take my 4 year old son to many games, because if i am lucky we would last 45 minutes.
The otcome is I don't go and nor does he. Create an atmosphere like Saturday we both get to go, and in a couple of years his younger brother and my wife will be able to to as well.
So for the sake of a few horns you sell four more tickets! Makes snese don't you think?

I suspect that the reason byf feels so passionately about children's parties is that he wasn't invited to too many ???

Instead of playing one single monotonous note why not drill a series of holes into side of the horn creating a selction of notes and amuse and delite the fellows around you with a rousing rendition of GOSBS.

twatwatwatats = another nsc word that only spastics and disableds are allowed to use.

Why? Do you consider spastics and the disabled lesser people than yourself or something?

Yes,he would, but what about those real fans who were moved from Block B to sit in the Family Stand?

I'm not going to whinge as badly as bhafc4eva did,but the horns really do my head in.I've had ringing in my ears every Sunday morning after I've been to a home game, and its those bloody horns. You even admit yourself your not sat in the middle of it,believe me,if you were you would feel differntly. They affect your enjoyment of the game, especially when you're 1-0 down to a ten men team.

And as for the balloons and the clowns, well,I didn't pay to see the bloody circus

I'm all in favour of the horns and anything that gets kids coming to the Withdean, If the kids want to make a noise and enjoy themselves then let them!

I know. I've been called a pedo and been offered to be taught 'a lesson or two' today and he's still not banned.

And to think I got banned last year for calling someone a c**t!

Either there's double standards going on or the mod just did'nt like me! :glare:
