i was in boracay a couple of months ago mate, its fantastic. its very quiet and really one strip with three boat stations on it. plenty of bars and restaurants, the koreans are very keen on the place but you wont see many westerners apart from pervy yanks with their manila bar girls. none of that sort of thing goes on there though it isnt seedy.

the beach is the best i have ever seen. dont go for long though or you will be bored shitless.

flights from manila return about 60-80 quid, then you have a boat transfer. i stayed at the mandarin which was great and can be recommended.

well theres obviously the heat and humidity but nothing you can do about that. you get a good breeze and its literally a breath of fresh air after manila though (which might be too much for a dot to be honest). the philippinos love kids, its a beach and thats about it so playing in the sand and paddling is about all you'll do. dont skimp on the accomodation (still not pricey really) and you'll be fine. its safe as houses too.

Location: Location:
Twice, years ago under British rule, and again in April this year (it hasn't changed). Its a great place, I gaurantee you'll love it. Find a free tourist map at the ultra-modern airport and choose the places you want to see. Use the MTR to get around, very cheap, clean and efficient, makes the London Underground look total crap.

Just far enough away from LDC
went on business a few months ago. Would suggest getting out to Kowloon on the star ferry (for cheap electrical stuff), stanley market for tat, up to the peak for a fab view (cable car).

Watch in awe at 30 storey buildings being built whilst workers use bamboo scaffolding

When are you going Alan? I'll be visiting HK next month on a stopover from my return from Oz. I'll won't be able to go to an Albion game for 4 weeks. (bit of a Win/Win at the moment).

It's excellent, Hong Kong, LOVE IT!

I had two great suits made at Sam's Tailors in Kowloon - the bloke's made suits for Clinton, Reagan, pop stars and royalty. And he's bloody cheap. No number, I'm afraid, but I'm sure he can be googled.

And that fab 100-mile long outdoor escalator :)

Kowloon is quite interesting for the markets and shopping but is very crowded. i think one of the most densely populated places in the world. try and get to the horse-racing if you can its hong kong's biggest 'sporting' event and they get about 70,000 people in the stadium. the chinese are mad about gambling.

If you can then go to macau for the night life/casionos if thats your thing. you can also do the worlds biggest bungy jump there haha.

im off to thailand, laos, vietnam and cambodia next summer its going to be beast
