I really don't think anyone else in the big, wide footballing world gives two hoots about how some Brighton fans contrast their own club with another small-time outfit 90 miles along the coast.

Beyond that your point is largely valid of course. Two clubs who have been fortunate to have their operations largely subsidised by a wealthy benefactor. There are two key differences however:

- Brighton have traditionally enjoyed a larger following than Bournemouth. That may be just due to fluke of geography, as Bournemouth have Southampton just up the road, whereas the Albion have no local competition for supporters' attentions.

- We have been financed by a life-long fan from a family with very close connections to the club through multiple generations. Bournemouth's Russian owner, Maxim Demin, has absolutely no connection with the area nor the football club and is largely described as an "invisible man". I'll keep Tony Bloom if that's OK with you.

Well if we do go down we are in a much stronger position to come straight back up again. Also we have the infersctucture, one we get into the top flight, to stay there for a considerable amount of time.

Well I think both sets of fans, from us, the 'small-time' outfit down the coast and yourselves are generally happy with where we are. Yourselves for the future, set up, crowds and facilities and us for how its going on the pitch etc etc..

I think it's good for us both to be doing well, hell yes even Saints being 2nd in the Prem all helps too and I hope Pompey get back up to this level soon too. But reading through a few (not that many) of these comments there's a definite hint of 'it's ok for us to get investment, but no one else is allowed to though'.

We're loving it at the moment - but if it all goes tits up, we'll just support them wherever and in whatever division we are in. We have our eyes well open on this one! (no bucket rattling, honest )

As for facilities...we have brand new training facilities right outside the stadium, sure the ground is a bit cramped but the decision has been made to stay where we are, which im sure you would all appreciate as the alternative was an out of town site with sweet **** all nearby and a pain in the arse to get to... (ring any bells)

A few add ons and it will be a 18-20K ground...that will suit us, used to get attendances like that back in the day.

As for FFP...well im a cynic as well, none of us really have a scooby what the hell is going on behind the scenes..needless to say we're enjoying the ride/.

I am assuming Mr Bloom and his family, at some point, had to have no affiliation with the club? So does this mean that if Maxim Demin passes us down through his family, and in 20 years time, is a huge fan himself, with family members as lifelong fans also... we can then no longer be deemed to be bankrolled, and in the same position as your fortunate selves...?

I actually like Brighton, but some of the comments on this thread are just ridiculous... continually talking of the fact that because you have a sparkly stadium and incredible training facilities, you have this god given right to be better than us... and we're just tinpot... Laughable really when you look at the table...

We realise that we could fall foul of FFP, yet we are reassured by the men up top that we will meet the criteria for the coming year... and we will be increasing our stadium capacity sooner rather than later... We don't have this 'billy big bollox' chips on our shoulders, largely because we can't... for reasons tirelessly repeated in this thread...

I would have Eddie Howe in charge over anyone, and tbh, I am not too worried about being 'bankrolled' by Demin as I firmly believe he is here for the long haul... We're all LOVING the ride and witnessing some of the best football in our history right now...

Eddie Howe doesn't suffer fools, hence the reason he left last time... If he trusts Demin and won't say a bad word against him then that is good enough for me...

I spoke to a well-placed contact at Bournemouth last Wednesday who said that they have talked in general terms about possible expansion, but there's nothing definite. The temporary stand that away fans are sometimes put in might be replaced with something bigger...

You lost 14m which excludes interest payments of 8-10m pa that luckily you dont have to pay due to TB making the loans interest free. Can only say what we have been told by the chairman... We have been told that the possibility of moving elsewhere is very unlikely now, despite having looked at several possibilities, and that the club are now looking into expansion solutions of the current ground...

IMO, we cannot continue to progress as a club, without it...

But I honestly wasn't lecturing just stating the facts (source; your accounts YE2013). Take a look at them sometime and please please someone ask Barber for a breakdown of the Administration & Operational costs. It's the most important question but no one seems to know the answer !!!!!
