He need to learn his trade a little bit and personally feel if we bide our team we may have a half decent player on our hands

He's young, quick and very scrawny, he's not going to out muscle defenders etc, so he has to play on the last defender, and receive either balls over the top or through balls. Today he got absolutely no service whatsoever, despite making all the right runs off the ball.

Sorry, but he has to mix it a bit at this level. Making all the right runs just doesn't hack it.

I'm afraid that just isn't enough. With the amount of games he's had there should be a DEFINITE by now.

I know what your saying, has he even had a shot on target yet?

BUT how many minutes as he played? A tad different to the amount of games

Noticed at the last game at Withdean he spent his whole time on the pitch pointing at the ground where he wanted the ball put. Nobody paid a blind bit of notice.

Plenty more of that in the second half today.

What, the pointing thing? Or the nobody paying a blind bit of notice thing? Both? If both, I'd respectfully suggest that maybe his team-mates have recognised that he's, er, not very good, and are deliberately not giving him the ball but are looking to give it to someone more useful instead? Sorry if that seems harsh, but the Albion have carried blatant passengers through necessity for so many years now, that it seems reasonable that new signings should be assessed objectively.

I watched Holroyd carefully in the second half today when he was playing towards us....yes he was pointing where he wanted the ball and in the past i've often thought he was making intelligent runs....but having seen the passes he is expecting the midefielders to make it isn't surprising he doesnt get put in....his runs are all wrong....they go in a direction where it is nigh on impossible to get the ball through to him....have reserved my judgement for a long time but am now convinced that based on his current game he is not a player we need.

In all fairness mate, we're fighting for nothing for the first time in like 8 seasons....so its not like a must-win game like last seasons last few games.

That's true enough, but I wish they'd have let us know about their intentions (or lack of) before hand - coz I wouldn't have bothered going today, quite honestly. Piss-poor fare.

If it's any consolation, bar the incredible hattrick against you, AJ was terrible for us in his first season. He was only 21 at the time but he ran round like a headless chicken most games.

Because he's come from a poor standard of football, a full pre season will probably benefit him fantastically well. I'm not saying you guys shouldn't be criticising him, but a player like Holroyd needs time to develop and a handful of starts in a new team and league is not going to solve the problem.

just back from MK and fraid folks that steve foster has got it spot on. And given his user name I can only guess it's because he's seen a lot better play up front for us whilst those still defending holyroyd probably don't have the same experience to draw upon. We ALL want CH to do well. But he's not good enough at this level and it's more than apparent now. Needs a close season the like of which no players's had before. Or to drop 2 levels at least, the latter being more likely and more than fair.

Look on the bright side Ms Toes, next Saturday will probably be worse

Indeed, but at least we can spend a few hours either side of the crap-fest getting encouragingly tipsy innit. Every cloud... :clap2:

He is definatly not a lone striker, but it would also help if the ball was passed to him. It looked today like everyone had decided not to pass to him. He was constantly pointing where he wanted it and calling for it but everybody ignored him.

Holroyd hasn't exactly set the world on fire. But it is a difficult transition from non league to League One. And he has often been playing out wide, rather than through the middle alongside a target man.

Reserving judgement just yet.

Holroyd spent the whole game on the shoulder of the defender waiting to be released but nobody was prepared to make the incisive pass he needed. I'm not his biggest fan and I think he'd make a better winger than striker but thought he wasn't helped by the rest of the team
I've said it before, I'll probably say it again, but why do people think that wingers are just crap strikers?
