Holloway: "It was pretty intimidating, the crowd make a big noise"

Radio Lancashire:

Presenter: "Congratulations. That was some comeback."

Ollie: "Well it needed to, didn't it.
30 days; they've got a great head of steam going haven't they. Fantastic energy; where the clubs' been and come from, and we're sort of almost the opposite. So that's a Hell of a fightback.
I need to make some things, it didn't look like us did it? I'd have probably accepted that before the game, but I'd have liked it in a better manner. Never mind. I can't complain. We've come back, Kevin's scored two and that's no mean achievement."

Presenter: "Making the changes at the time you did, you gave the players coming on the time to make an impact, and they certainly did."

Ollie: "Yeah, I was totally fed up with what I saw, to be fair. First half we looked dithery, indecisive, not in a confident vein.
I wanted Matty Phillips to get on and get at people and it looks like the time he's had with England hasn't gone well for him.
I wanted Bill (Clarke) to be as bright and bubbly as he has been, left out, but you know experienced players are worth their weight in gold. Kev's proved that today, Fletch has proved that today, so has Brett, and maybe we will need one or two more of them.
I need to help this group we've got. We're not a bad side, but we need to move forward a little bit if we can."

Presenter: "Talk to me about the technique of that late leveller by Kevin Phillips."

Ollie: "That's what he's been doing all his life. He's just exceptional and that is why they always score goals, because he didn't take his eye off it once. He doesn't even need to think about things: it's just his total technique, his total belief in himself and he smacked it and I'm glad that he did, because I felt that at the time we had a head of steam.
Like we said at half time, we are only going to need one and that will settle us down. Then we went two behind - a stupid, pathetic goal we gave away again from a set-piece and we've got to sort that out.
What can I say? Can't say much, we've got a long journey back now. It was the journey from Hell yesterday.
Well done to Brighton. It was pretty intimidating, the crowd make a big noise, they've done wonderfully well. Someone cheated them a few years ago and stole their ground and their biggest asset, and they've done well, so well done to them and good luck to them."

Presenter: "Just before that late leveller, there was more than a decent handball shout for a penalty, wasn't there?"

Ollie: "Yeah, I'm not commenting on the referees. I think they've got a tough enough job and I'm trying to stay calm and do things.
I thought that was a blatent foul on Matthew Gilks, but maybe we've got to look at that. They were Champions of their League last year and you don't get that without doing everything right. So they've nudged him, got away with it and nearly scored from the corner, so I wouldn't have been very happy then.
Let's get on the bus and get going. I've got a lot of hard work to do, I think."

Presenter: "It says a lot about the spirit of your side. Brighton: played 4, won 4, two up before the hour but you never let go."

Ollie: "That's a good quality that we've got and we've got to keep going. I don't know what our fans would think of all this, but it didn't look like my team did it?
We looked hesitant, indecisive and as I say, let's get on with it. I've got to get home, watch the game again and see if I can find some pointers to show them and move on.
They've got a good group. They've bought one of the best players in the Championship, so everything's on the up for them. What we've done is lost some good players, you know I've added some, but we've got to keep moving forward if we can."

Presenter: "And that means looking for some more?"

Ollie: "I think so, yeah. And encouraging the young ones, because I believe we've probably got the best group of young ones I've seen for a while, well under my management anyway - at any club.
We needed that last year. We needed an Under 21 squad last year. This year we need a proper squad. We're almost getting it.
I think Craig (Sutherland) has been a great addition. When Brett comes on, that's just the way things are, isn't it?
These senior pros are, as I've said before, worth their weight in gold. With the young ones I've got to get the sprinkling right, and unfortunately the inexperience I had out there today, I took them off, so hopefully they won't be too dented. It wasn't their fault, it was the rest of us as well."

That's bloody nice to read :D

The same Ian Holloway that claimed CMS only came to Brighton for the money only a day ago?

I've said it for ages, he's a tiresome c**t, one of football's most predictable characters, constantly moaning about agents, money etc. If he hated it so much, why is he still in the industry?

Shame people still buy into it.

Oh he's alright now is he? Sake.

They were yet another team that should have had the entire game under control with their quality and experience in the side but they were celebrating like they'd won the league when they equalised because they know they were lucky to get a point.

His players and in particular Kevin Phillips were particularly intimidated by songs such as
"Stand up, if you hate Palace", and
"We're the right side north stand boys".

He is always fun to read/hear. Perhaps he goes on a bit much about the negatives, but when he talks about the positives he is a real pleasure. He does look at all the aspects, a sign of a great manager. I wasn't expecting to see the compliments to us, but it was a pleasant surprise.

the same claim that was a deliberate mis-quote, which the poster admitted to, common of newspapers or whoever wants to stir things up. Shame people still buy it.

that holloway is such a salt of the earth, i love him! speaks his mind and doesn't really care what the people think. Always up for a laugh when he is being interviewed. That's all you need really. Not an arrogant shite like Adkins, and not a Pouting Thomas like Wenger.

Also, he's got his own chickens, dont ya know, dont ya know.

We established on that thread that if people actually listen to the whole interview rather that focussing on one out of context statement, his comments weren't actually that bad. He was actually quite complimentary us in the offending pre match interview as well.

Hadn't seen that so I'm totally prepared to hold my hands up if true.

But even yesterday during the game he got into an altercation with Albion fans when they equalised, resulting in plenty of abuse from the West Lower.

Wasn't he quoted wrongly about CMS yesterday? I was expecting to come on and say something like " the 3 subs made were excellent and we showed character to get back into the game", and not praise us once. Surprised me abit.

Yes, but don't let the truth get in the way of a juicy bit of tittle-tattle.

Cheers for posting the interview, Turkey. I like Olly - & that read's just reinforced my fondness for him.

Oh, is that the reason for singing? And here I was thinking it was just for fun.

Did he say what he was quoted as saying or not?
Doesn't matter if he surrouned it with other niceties, it was still bollocks (if he said it).
