Considering a holiday in Cyprus and thought the well travelled of NSC could give me some advise on areas and hotels etc

Went around 12 years ago to Ayia Napa which was nice.

Going next Saturadya to Paphos for two weeks which will hopefully be nice as well - they join the Euro from 01.01.08.

Pafos and surrounding areas are great. Coral Bay for the beach, lots to see outside of Pafos and Lefkosia (Nicosia) is worth a day's visit-cross into Northern Cyprus whilst there-you'll see such a difference.

In Pafos go to Viva Cyprus for good, inexpensive food and definitely go to Othello's.

I normally go every year but couldn't make it this year.

Have a great time you lucky devil(s).

Not sure we will go to Nicosia as went last time, think Mrs Hut has her heart set on two weeks on the beach.

Very expensive and overrated. There's not a great deal to do if your not into the clubbing scene.Been once and personally wouldn't go back after going to Turkey.

Spent about 30 mins at Nicosia airport in 1957.Have a villa booked on the coast near to Trudos mountains in October. It is a very civilised country with warm sun,Roman ruins and such,AND they drive on the correct side of the road.

My Dad went once, had been there for a couple of hours when the truck he was in hit a landmine. It's quieter now,but the Turks and Greeks still aren't too matey with each other.

Message ends.

We go twice a year generally, and obviously love the place. I guess it depends on what you like, but Paphos, Aya Napa and Protaros are all decent holiday resorts, with the benefit of having some interesting cultural sites nearby. The Troodos mountains are stunning. But if you really want a beautiful holiday go to North Cyprus, we booked through here http://www.northcyprusvillas.com/Front.htm and stayed at Poets Villa. In a village, surtrounded by Lemon trees, peacefull, and only a couple of quid taxi ride into Kyrenia, one of the most beautiful cities in the world (IMO)

The people, the places and the food are great.

Nothing to do apart from the clubbing scene? Are you sure you were in Cyprus?

Had a couple of weeks in Protaros in 2004 and enjoyed it. Nice resort, fabulous beaches, weather was great, all-inclusive hotel was very good. Was put off Paphos a bit as I heard its beaches are shingly (I only like SAND when I;m abroad).

just got back from a week there. had a great time. saw the whole island, though. might not be so much fun if you had to stay in the same place. nicosia is well worth a visit - look at the turkish side and the un line. some great, deserted beached up the west coast too.
