HMRC has messed up around 30% of CB payments today. They can't say when they will be making the payments and have told parents not to contact them.

This is the incompetent shambolic HMRC that the Labour Party expects to sort out tax avoidance and evasion in order to raise money to fund their spending plans. Not with this bunch of incompetents drawing their rations under false pretences they won't.

It seems counter-intuitive to make the body responsible for collected REVENUE and CUSTOMS to also be responsible for the payment of Child Benefit.

The country hasn't got a pot to piss in, so bold policies that cost money are very thin on the ground. So what better time to announce real policy change on tax simplification? It would be long overdue, cheap and universally popular.

Don’t pay any?…I thought that was already in force in some circumstances 🤔

It used to be child tax allowance but it was usually attached to the father’s wage packet. Many men just enjoyed the extra cash, and children didn’t benefit, whereas pubs & Off licenses did.
So, it became a benefit, in the form of a book which Mums took to the Post Office every Tuesday.
Fast forward to modern times with internet banking, except for when it goes wrong. It was never taken away from HMRC.

And let's not forget how Child Tax Credit has now become like unemployment benefit but called Universal credit.

Never mind. I'm sure Fujitsu and Horizon can sort it in no time!

This isn't actually a 'single parent, dole bludgers benefit' issue, it's an issue that also affects people earning up to 60k pa. It's obviously more likely that people earning 60k pa will have enough to cover the money but I know a person that uses that Child Benefit (CB) to stock up on nappies etc whilst the Universal Credit (UC) top up goes to everything else. I know others that receive UC & CB. Yes they work. No they can't do any more hours. I'm sure they'd prefer better paid jobs but 2 of them work in adult social care ie. care homes & the other person works in a nursery. They don't all have to buy nappies, just one does. But they all rely on that money coming in on the day it says it's going to come in & 1 of them is a bit stuffed, the other 2 are winging it. I'm pretty sure the gov introduced UC to make sure everyone learnt to manage their money. UC is the biggest mess possible and I've just seen on that Martin Lewis thread that some haven't been paid that, or Tax Credits. They may be one off people though. To tell them not to ring or give them any idea by a simple email that there's been a big f**k up is just wrong. I would imagine that there's going to be quite a few peoples direct debits bouncing tonight that they'll get charged for. I can't imagine it will be to easy to ask the dept that has messed up the payment, to pay their bank charges.

It does indeed but it's because the department responsible for paying benefits - the DWP ( also known as Dicks, W@nkers and Pricks ) are even more useless - hard to believe I know but true.
