I'm pretty sure it was NSC that gave me a really good car hire site a while back, but I can't find it and haven't needed to hire for a couple of years. Going to need a car later this month and looking for recommendations. Thanking you kindly

I used Sixt in Italy and South Africa recently and no complaints with them either time. Pricing and waivers etc were clearly displayed and defined, as well as additional cover options/add-ons explained clearly.

I hire a few times per year. I have rentalcars.com app which is a comparison site. Just choose which model/ price works best for you.
Also I strongly recommend taking out your own car hire insurance ( around £65 annuallly). Then only take the basic insurance with the rentsl company. Don't be pushed into taking their extra insurance. It will cost more for a single trip than having your own

pepecar is a great comparison type site in Spain and it might work across Europe. They always find amazing deals for your dates (best one yet was €2 a day).

Highly recommend Skyskanner’s Car Rental comparison site. Use them a number of times each year - they always seem to be able find a better deal than their competitors.

Agree with the car insurance. Take out an annual package with icarhireinsurance. My renewal was £47. Car hire providers might get shitty at first but lately I have found them to be more accepting. They can’t refuse the car hire but of course you will have your credit card loaded with a few thousand euros.

Hired my car for Sicily and was quoted €8 a day, which sounds cheap but over 10 days hire it’s more expensive that my annual insurance payment.

I have received the odd upgrade, which is nice but do be very wary of the car you expect though. If you get something smaller complain and don’t cave in.

This. And on no account use Goldcar. They'll automatically add on expensive extras like covering you to visit another Canary Island in your hire car. Which practically nobody in the entire history of holiday car hire did, ever. Plus they take a THOUSAND Euros deposit on their shitty car. Don't be fooled by their Cheapest Car Hire advertising. Dodgy as f***

I have worldwidetravelinsurance.com. I used a different company before but had to change as I am not resident in the UK anymore and the previous company couldn't facilitate that.
You can get annual cover worldwide including UK. For you and any other named person who is resident at the same address as you
