Following on from the news that we now have a connection to Hibs, was reminded of the following version of Sunshine over Leith by the Hibs fans in 2016.

I'm sure you'll agree, it's a great song, made even greater with a football crowd singing it?

Would love us to have something like this for our club, maybe even the same song.

Not sure that Leith is something we would want to sing about in Sussex, but how about changing it to something connected to Shoreham, to make it even more poignant?

I think that this had already been posted and discussed in the main hibs thread.

I'd say join in and enjoy whenever we play them (which might become a pre-season thing) but it is very much their song and maybe best left as theirs alone. Besides, I feel any Proclaimers song needs to be sung with a good Scottish accent for the right effect - the "sorrow" bit just wouldn't sound the same in a Sussex drawl.

Love Hibs fans singing that.

But you seem to have overlooked the fact that we have the most meaningful anthem in the whole of football, honouring the young kids from Sussex who were sent into the first world war.

(Except obviously some song nicked from a 1945 musical )

It's an amazing song, and brilliantly song by the Hibbees.

Great pacing too (although I appreciate they had a backing track there) - if we sang that, we'd be finished within about 30 seconds.

The Proclaimers definitely missed a trick there by not giving it a ska rhythm :glare:

Maybe we should all write songs about Hibernian and Brighton. I'll begin.

Over in Scotland there is a team called Hibernian
They are from Edinburgh - not from Birmingham
I cant name one of their players, but tomorrow I can name plenty
It will be Jan, Billy, maybe Aaron but no one named Lenny
Unless they currently have some Lenny,
in this case they will have no one named Benny
But if they do by coincidence, I stand aside
Brighton and Hibernian, together with pride

I think they have a rivalry with Hearts
and I thought they in the 90s had a defender name Lars
But I googled it and he played for Dundee United
so it turns out I just got a little bit too excited
Tony Bloom will send some of his least brave men
They will carry the Hibs to what might be the end,
since a lot of Scottish clubs got economical problems
in which case we're just gonna say "sod them"

Over to you...

While it's a great song, adopting a new anthem because we are going to chuck a few youngsters there on loan is ridiculous
