If it were true, getting Heskey would prove something of a coup for us i would have thought.

Trotter would come to us in exchange for Vincelot and some cash. Both are only reported on NSC though.

ees complicated no?

Not sure about Trotter, he may have played well against us at the Amex, but we were mostly poor that night.

Could he be Navarro's replacement though?

Lots of people think, wrongly, that Heskey is shit. I'd say that makes him one of the most UNDER-rated English players of recent years.

This.

The Premiership is a massive step up from the Championship, and he's spent his entire career there. He'd be a class act for us.

The problem is a lot of people like strikers to score the occaisonal goal. Not sure why people would want that from their strikers, but bizarrely, people judge him on his goals ratio. Which is pathetic. A few years ago it was possible to argue that his work for the team justified his lack of goals, but that was years ago. Now he offers nothing to Aston Villa in the Premier League and rightly can't get into the team.

In the Championship he would probably still be able to do a job but you would need to have goalscoring midfielders around him, especially if you have a manager who favours 1 striker formations. I'm not convinced that he would be a good signing for us, but I'm sure a Championship club will get some use out of him. The way it's going, he may not have to move clubs in order to find a Championship club.

Maybe that's true (although I don't agree) but he would absolutely rip a new one for defences at this level. As a Championship striker he would be virtually unplayable, and does regularly bring out the best in those around him.

Heskey gets the usual England 'fan' type comments. From the kind of people who were thinking that Joe Cole would be our saviour in 2010.

How old is he now? Would be class in the championship if he's still up for it.

Saw yesterday that Aston Villa players have an average wage of £47k a week :)eek:) And Heskey must be one of the highest earners there, can't begin to imagine him stepping down to the Championship and lowering his wage by such a vast amount.

Do you think Vicente and Buckley would fill that role? Calderon would probably want to chip in as well.

It really pisses me off how everyone thinks Heskey is shit. Yes he doesn't score goals galore but a player of his quality would grace the Championship, one of the best link up strikers I've seen. He holds the ball up so well, he's a very effective player on the pitch and I'd be over the moon if we could bring him in to play upfront with Macca.

So we are all agreed, Heskey would be perfect? Go get him Gus. Decent forward problem solved, now let's move on to the goalkeeper and carry on building a side that can maintain a top 2 position

...as long as we're confident that he's good enough to help us to promotion even with a 10-point deduction for going into administration after trying to pay his wages, of course!

What he gives to a team is fantastic, he's a great outlet going forward and does not get enough credit for what he does simply because he doesn't score enough goals.
