I'd forgotten about the Maskell breakaway chance at the end that could have made those last few minutes a lot less stressful.

Also highlighted how poor the pitches were - that ball was bobbling all over the place as he ran forward.

Stuck this album one side of a C90 (The Bluetones were on the other) that should get us part of the way home!

In Dicks Out 2,(you’re not singing anymore), a book by Rob Merrills this song is name checked in relation to the Hereford match. Love is The Law was apparently readapted by some Albion fans at Edgar St …..
Now we all know where you’re going,
So f*** off, enjoy the ride,
Morecambe and Southport and Dover,
Stalybridge, Welling and Hyde.

What was attendance and how many Albion supporters ?

Not sure how many Albion fans, we had the end behind the goal we scored in, the stand to our left I think we had half of that. My guess between 2 and 3 thousand.

I remember that Maskell breakaway well; I also remember like yesterday their chance where the player looked like he tried to lob Ormerod but punted it straight into his midriff. What I hadn’t realised was that they were both in the 90th minute - I would’ve guessed 80-85th - and that the latter had resulted directly from the goal kick after Maskell’s miss.

I’d also forgotten the other good shooting chance that Maskell had made for himself in the 94th minute. Thankfully, this time the ref blew for full time when the resulting goal kick was taken.

We were given an allocation of about 3,300 because Hereford never thought that their safety would rest on this game. I’d estimate we had about 500 in the home stands too, myself included.

Yes l heard it was around 3,000 Albion, yet despite being in the minority all the noise on that stream was coming from the Albion fans, what a crescendo!

The only time that l can remember us making even more noise was that fateful evening against Sheffield Wednesday in the play off semi finals at the Amex.

Pretty interesting to see the development. League Two today is as good as plenty of top divisions in Europe, lots of Allsvenskan teams would struggle to beat them. Quite clearly it was a different fiver back then... some of these blokes were pretty much pub level (but with a bit better fitness than your average pub dweller).

3,300 away allocation. Many more though. I sat with loads of Brighton in the seats next to our seated allocation.
You must have been near my brother and me. I’m pretty sure that it was about 80% Brighton up there.

:lolol:

The scary thing is that I live 20 miles from Hereford and that ground hasn’t changed at all since we played that game, except now it’s 25 years more decrepit.

Yes, but I'm guessing the club showed it today thinking more people would be able to watch it being a bank holiday?

I remember the day after the Hereford match we went to see David Baddiel at the Dome , Frank Skinner sat next to us throughout the show , needless to say the match was mentioned on more than one occasion that evening, great evening and great memories

I watched Forest Green v Harrogate on Saturday. A decent match (including two well-taken penalties!). Harrogate won 3-1….a very tidy display from a team 17th in League Two.
