Still in Brighton
We should probably have a different thread for the instances of weirdos. Far too many people being interviewed who clearly are a bit odd in expressing their grief.

Eg “I had to be here, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity” (very poor choice of words IMO!) Also, people that have been round seeing her lying in state 7 or more times! (Sake, it’s not a fairground ride!) “I wanted to bring my baby so I can say she was there” (again, you mawkish ****, it’s not a giant selfie!)

These occasions always bring out the loons but when it’s a death I find all the smiling at the cameras and “Me me me”, almost “grief offs” all rather undignified. What’s wrong with mourning her without desperately seeking a media outlet or posting your own footage online to gain ‘likes’? Some very peculiar people…

I'm finding it all very weird now, it's just ott. I leave Classic FM on for the cat when I'm out. All day every day since they and their messages banging on about playing "appropriate music for the occasion" and "helping us get through this". I liked the old girl, thought she did a sterling job but I don't need any help at all thanks to get over it. On the day of the funeral but every day prior, get a grip.

Just getting silly now, BBC pulls SCD launch on Saturday to show Paddington 1, with Paddington 2 on Monday.

I don’t think it’s OTT. She’s our head of state and such affairs and occasions take time understandably. You can duck in and out of the 24/7 as such, as most of us are doing.

But its the oddballs that appear on television grinning and desperate to show off how ‘sad’ they are, the very antithesis of her ironically. Those are who I’m calling out here. A very modern peculiarity. I’ve no time for people engaging in “Grief offs”, the superficial mawkish twerps. Get some self dignity! :)

It is very modern which those who support the idea of a Royal Family stick their collective head in the sand over.

There was even an ex-police officer on the radio yesterday talking about the threat at public events of the Royally obsessed.

It is the inevitable conclusion of The Royal Family being threatened with "openness and transparency" and replacing it with "Celebrity" to fill the void.

Earlier this evening, I saw a photograph of 1936 King George V funeral with the Naval gun carriage. The person who posted it knew her grandfather was one of the sailors pulling the coffin.
The crowds were enormous, more than ten deep.

The RAF respect to QE2 at both Edinburgh and Northolt looked impressive to this layman.

Then a great turnout from the folk of NW London too, some scenes along the A40.

These guys practice for these events all of the time.
It's very good to watch and of a very high standard.
Also good to see a decent RAF aircraft over London.

That's the clearest I've seen the A40 into London for a long while
