What's wrong is that attempts to update it were poo pood. And singing about Shearer and Cole just sounds too dated.

It's a sad thing that folk can't make up contemporary football chants without using tunes from no more recent than the 1960s (yellow submarine, FFS) or by such musical luminaries as Chas and fecking Dave.

Perhaps its time we took this properly seriously. Find a more contemporary tune, carefully selected so the refrain doesn't cross several octaves. Post the youtube version, indicating which bit is relevant (a nice anthemic chorus is what we want).

Then we can try and work out some words, ideally arranging them so the SCAN and RHYME.

Unfortunatley not. It doesn't scan. And it is NOT ORIGINAL. What about something to the tune of Happy Talk?
