Does anyone else find that when the travel news cuts in to your radio/ipod/etc in teh car, that it doesn't cut back out again when they have finished?

this happened three times this morning and I had to press the "i" button to clear it!!!

It may just be my radio, but there is a trigger sound at the beginning, but not at the end of a segment

I always suspected that radio stations delayed the 'end' trigger signal for a few minutes to try and up their ratings. I'm probably wrong mind you.

Yes! And because I'm a grumpy old man I REALLY hate it. Ok, I want the travel, but I DON'T want to listen to the asinine, juvenile, banter that goes on between the retards masquerading as presenters. And I make no apology for the use of the word 'retard' so don't complain to me, complain to Southern FM / Heart / whoever.

... and relax.

Southern FM was shite most of the time. Heart is shite all of the time. When you live north of the downs and south of Crawley, you really are stuffed for a decent radio station to listen to in the car. It seems Heart is trying for world domination of radio as they are now broadcasting all over the country on regional wavelengths.:censored:

It is a bit crap. I was delighted to note the other morning that Mercury's signal appeared to have been invaded by some French radio station.

The joys of living so close to the coast.

Think that's the case if you live anywhere outside London. FM choice in the capital is unrivalled.

Up here in Derby the same owners of Heart own Ram FM, the world's worst radio station!!

As a general complaint why IS local radio so awful? On the odd occasion when I catch Southern Heart or whatever it's called it just sets my teeth on edge. Worse they claim to play 'more music variety' and yet it's just a narrow band of mainly modern chart music. And as I said earlier the presenters, oh God the presenters; to call them yabbering cretins doesn't begin to describe them. I guess as I'm in my fifties and I've got a few 'O' levels I'm not really their target market.

To be fair, southern FM is alright. They play a bit of 70's/80's/90's mainly in the morning on "guess the year". Alright if you are out on the roads. Must admit, from 12-3 when all the chart crap gets repeated over and over again gets a bit mondane.:US:

If your after travel I would suggest you use the bulletins from BBC Sussex, I find them the best by a mile.
As for local radio I listen to Juice who now have Dan Gasser in the afternoon slot. I also listen to Danny Pike on BBC Sussex from 10-1pm. But can't stand Sarah Gonareah form 4-7pm
I think that that Heart crap FM must be very close to breaking the Laws of their license because they are not a local station any more and when 103.5 FM was given out it must have been as a local Radio license then, really out of order, I feel sorry for anybody who actually listens to a national Radio station advertised as a local station.

They do the absolute minimum amount of local content the Ofcom license allows them to do, which is the same for most of the Heart stations across the UK. Local breakfast and local drive, and that's it. Not even local news between those times.
