Scrolling back through (the admittedly shite search function) it seems we haven't had a proper headphones thread in a good few years.

So what headphones do you use?

What type even?... Bluetooth, wired, IEMs, over ear, on ear, closed back, open back, planar magnetic, dynamic drivers, electrostatics?

What do you pair them with?.... Phone, laptop, with or without a DAC dongle, DAP, desktop amp set up, hi-fi seperates?

I'm just curious what the state of the nation is on these at the moment.

£9.99 bluetooth for coach trips away. Got a feeling by the time I need them again I'd have mislaid them. Away games, do you remember them.

I've had my "K66 Stereo Headphones" for about 20 years now. Still works great.
AKG?

I had a pair of AKG k240 years ago, that I'd also had for years, until I let the family loose on them. They didn't last long after that!

Huawei Freebuds Studio NC headphones. Very comfortable, excellent noise cancelling function. Had Beats Solo 3 previously which were fine but a fault developed (well known by Apple) a few months outside of the warrantee and Apple just did not want to know so I will not purchase Apple headphones again.

Tozo in-ear bluetooth, mostly when in the gym to listen to internet radio via my phone (and to drown out the over-loud enthusiastic screeching often coming from the classes in the ‘open’ studio ). Occasionally use them when travelling if watching stuff on my ipad.

JLAB epic air sport ANC Bluetooth, I like this type with the hooks that go over my ears, comfortable and I know they won’t fall out when I’m working.

Phillips over the head that I use when I’m sitting around at home.

Bowers and Wilkins, plug in, with my iPOD. It doesn't say anywhere what edition. Absolutely perfect for cancelling out the endless chatter on the train, without generating that annoying tss tss tss from cheap shite that would annoy the more irritable of my fellow travellers..

Klipsch in ears for work

not a fan of headphones per se but they have their uses.

How soon is now?
I had some custom IEMs made, but apparently your ears don’t stop growing so they have a finite life. You also have to be very careful when having the moulds done, as any mouth movements will result in a bad fitting.
I have some Jlab Bluetooth buds for walking around, cheap as chips with a decent battery life. And some Shure 215’s for a wired connection, which are very good for the money

I've got some HiFiMAN He-400, a budget but still very nice set of planar cans, with a basic amp.

Don't often get a chance to make use of them, but when I do I wonder why I don't more often!

Would love some Audeze LCD-3s...

Sennheiser HD25, classic, light, wide range, good enough for the pros.

Do people still use headphones? Most of the twunks when on the trains just play it out of their phones with no headphones . But never play anything good from the 80’s though

Excellent point about your ears growing throughout your life. I hadn't thought of that when I briefly considered custom moulds.

I always open my mouth when I put my IEMs in out of habit. I have some NFAudio NA2 IEMs. They're comfortable, but I prefer full size over the ear headphones for comfort on long listening sessions.
