Great read but a couple or unanswered questions from it.

I though the Knight consortium took over completely, did not realise Archer retained 49.5%.
When and what and were the circumstances that made Archer sell/give these up ? so we were finally rid of him altogether ?

And how did Bellotti become Archers puppet, how did their paths cross prior to Archer buying the club ?

Bellotti was brought on board (before Archer I think) because the Board of Directors thought his position at East Sussex County Council would have some influence with any future planning issues.

I don't know exactly what made Archer realise he might as well just pack up and piss off (aside from the fact he had so little to do with the club), but he did accept £700,000 out of £1.4m he was due to receive.

When he wanted to take his company to the stock exchange he was told by his advisor's to get rid, as the bad publicity would harm the share price. So although he accepted less than he claimed to have put in, Mr Knight managed to knock him down to only £700.000. A bit more than the £57 and change up front. If memory serves.

£56.25 to be exact and Archer was only onboard to get Stanley off the hook

How can you live in Preston Circus Tim? ???Mr Hodges, who lives in Preston Circus, said: "Buying Archer's shares would be a good move and I'd like to see it done before we sell Bobby Zamora."

Bellotti came in when the previous CEO Bonkers Bazza Lloyd was sacked, at the end of his reign as manager Lloyd doubled up as Chief Executive too and Tinselhead was 1st team coach so no wonder we were at the bottom of the league.

Lloyd got the sack in November 1993 and Brady replaced him as manager and Bellotti replaced him as Chief Executive, maybe ask Attila on Saturday about when him and his mates carried Bellend round the North Stand on their shoulders at his first game.

Abort, retry, fail
Programme Seller - do you mind me asking how long you have supported the club? I assumed that you were in your 40s/50s, but various questions would suggest otherwise!

NB This is not a dig!

Not so. Lloyd doubled as managing director, not CEO.

Bellotti sacked Lloyd - but not immediately.

Bang on with the age group, Starting supporting them around 71-72 avidly until around early 90's them family took precedent so football was not high on my priority list.
Was asked to get involved in matchday work in 99 when we came back to Withdean.so rekindled the faith.
so missed the in-between years,
My father has worked for the club since the 60's and even under Bellotti who forced redundancy on him. And funnily enough he can't the remember what happened back then, so i asked on here, how about you, how long have you supported them, do you know the answers to the questions posed?

History lesson Boys.
Lloydy got Greg Stanley involved as a director, they were and still are big chums, Stanley ends up being Chairman throwing money away His family are shitting themselves coz of how much he is loosing, so he then gets Archer, who was running his FADS empire at the time to get him out of it, so Archer becomes Chairman for £56.25 and employs the DIMLIB bellotti the rest is History

The real money was made on Chartwell's sale of the Goldstone retail park after they'd developed it. I forget exactly how much but it was over 20m. Whether or not Archer made any money on that sale has never been proved, but given his involvement beforehand...

It wasn't a dig, I was just surprised at the question (amongst others) as to how little you knew about the Albion during the 90s. But family, first and foremost, explains things.

I have been going since 1990 and know a lot as I have an insatiable thirst for all things Albion.

Something that does puzzle me is why Ray Bloom did not seem to play such a huge role in saving the club, despite his long history with the Albion and wasn't he the very last to jump ship when the going got tough? Were the rest of the board kept in the dark?
