No heating used yet. It was 19 degrees here in Faversham yesterday. I have two of the Velux open in the extension as I type.

But I was cold down my mate's house last night watching the football. North facing room, no double glazing....hmmmm.

No central heating required yet. At the time of writing, our sitting room is 21C.
Lit the log burner one cold evening in late September, but not since.
Will be having a couple of sea swims in the next few days before I hang up my trunks for the winter.
‘tis weird weather, but at least it must have saved folks a pretty penny on their heating bills.

I'd love to. But I don't have any. Damn near froze to death last winter. Any NSC'ers that are local and are qualified electricians, please feel free to PM me. Just want 4 x storage heaters taken away and 4 x modern wall heaters supplied and installed. Ta.

We've managed to keep our October gas usage down to 239 kWh thus far. Most days it's been on twice a day for 15 minutes for hot water and we put the heating on for three chilly mornings just to warm things a little. Assuming we don't need the heating again in the next few days, we'll be at about 240 kWh for the whole month.

We didn't track gas usage this time last year, but the Hugo Energy app allows me to look back and I can see we used more around five times that last October with 1.212 kWh.

Looking into the middle of winter we had a few days nudging 200 kWh in a single 24 hours. Gas is something like 10p/kWh right now isn't it? If we use our heating to the same degree, it's going to be pricey even with the capped price in place!
You got me curious so just checked ours. Gas 34kWh for October so far, with 4 days to go. Last October was 350kWh so mild weather has made big difference. No gas appliances so only hot water/heating. Our electric has also decreased through not using tumble dryer and mainly cooking with air fryer but still pretty high at 256kWh so far for October. I never thought about any of this stuff until prices went up but looking for more ways to use less.

No heating, still have my jumper off as very warm indoors today. Windows and back door all open.

If this is global warming then may need to rip the central heating out, and get air conditioning installed.

Yet you survived Rovaniemi in January!

It was so cold there last early December, down to -20c. We needed all the specialist layers and were still cold.

How do you use so little gas? Do you not wash?

We're using 20-30kWh per day, admittedly for a family of 6.

34kWh over 27 days and that includes hot water for showers/baths?

Only 2 of us and I have nearly all my showers at the gym, other half showers at home. Have to recoup some of the extortionate cost of gym membership somehow.

Still holding out! I put slightly more on my meter reading at the end of September (not much just a little) and I still haven't reached it when I did the reading the other day! Happy days.

I've just had my boiler serviced. The guy doing it recommended a smart thermostat, an ideal halo combi. Given I have only 5 rooms, all with TRVs on the radiators, is there any benefit in me spending 200 on one? How is it better than managing with the TRVs? There's no benefit to the engineer in suggesting this, I would buy and fit it myself - am I missing seeing the benefits here?

Oh, and I'd left the heating off so far, turns out he had left it on post servicing, so my heating has been on this year, albeit briefly, and now off again.

Blimey, there's only one of me, I was away for a week or so, and I've used 65

What room stat/programmer do you have already?

Not a chance of central heating going on yet and not really thought of firiing up the log burner either. Keep having to put shorts on during the day and the sea is still really warm (16° apparently) - going to get back into the 3/2 wetsuit for the next surf after prematurely swapping it for the autumn 4/3.
