No we haven't. So to answer the OP's question and save everyone a good few hours, the answer is no.

But in the relegation season in 83, or in any of those seasons earlier, was there not a weekend when we were bottom or second to bottom? You'd have to look for the early results to find out

Bear in mind you are only really going back to 1958, when the four-tier structure was introduced.

Well, yes, that was the point where being anywhere from 1 to 92 became possible. Although Coventry could have potentially done all 92 places sooner.

For a start there can't be many teams in the top 2 Divisions who have been 92nd in the Football League at some point, maybe Burnley?

Carlisle topped the old First Division on the second Saturday of the 74/75 season but they dropped like a stone and finished 22nd, can't imagine they went from 1 to 2 to 3 etc.

Luton is a great shout, but then again did they ever top Div One or the EPL?

Luton did manage a top ten finish in 86-87. Doesn't look like they were top at any stage. Oxford United and Oldham didn't have very happy stays.

Notts County may well have been top in Victorian times.

Wolves may be another shout. I can’t verify that and my only reason for mentioning them is when I put a Facebook post up recently about us having occupied 92nd and Top of Premier, a Wolves mate replied saying they had too.

How do you judge occupied?

Is it the table immediately after your game? Or after all the games for that match day are played?

The former would give us more chance as we might have snuck into a position for an hour or two before dropping out again.

Not sure thats the same thing though. How can we have occupied every position, we haven't been bottom of the premier league. I know football was kicking about (pun intended) before the EPL but think it is a big obstacle to ignore.

All of the results are available so it's possible to calculate, but very time consuming. Maybe when I retire.. (add that to the list of things I'm putting off until I retire).

Yes, you could go through 50 years of old newspapers - but even that might not do it. What about midweek games, when they don't give an updated table? I always thought we had gone 5th when we beat Southampton away in a midweek game in December 1981. But on checking, it was only 6th (for a long time, our highest-ever 'as it stands' mid-season position).

Yes, I was there! I do seem to remember there was a debate as to whether we were 5th or 6th, (although we all agreed it was amazing that were that high in the first division).

I'd be surprised. Wolves only had a couple of seasons in Division 4 and were challenging in both. They will only have had a couple in Division 3 as well.

Yeah there's absolutely no way that works. You have to consider the position no matter what the league. So in 83 we were 22nd so that is irrelevant whether we've been bottom of the prem. I think that's probably irrelevant anyway as surely we were 20th at some point back then
