Been hearing a lot about Arsenal trying to come back from 4-0 down against AC Milan, and the pundit's stock phrase today seems to be 'stranger things have happened in football'.

But have they? What is the STRANGEST thing you have ever seen in football?

Off the top of my head, the Battle of Longford and aftermath was quite surreal. Goalkeeper Jimmy Glass saving Carlisle maybe.

ManU winning the european champions league trophy shield final cup in extra time was quite outstanding. Even mrs h nearly dropped her knitting.

My memory is terrible so these might not be 100% accurate but they were pretty strange:

The African Cup Of Nations game where Mali came back from 4-0 down to draw 4-4 with about 10 minutes left.

Tottenham beating Man City (or could be the other way round) when they were reduced to ten men at half time and were 3-0 down.

Palace beating Man Utd reserves at Old Trafford

Brighton scoring 3 own goals in a single FA Cup match

Brighton signing Vicente

I would suggest Gillingham being 4-2 down with 10 minutes to go and winning 5-4 must be considered strange if not nearly impossible !

So 3 goals in less than 15 minutes for Gillingham should make 4 goals for Arsenal on 90+ minutes a doodle !

I was going to mention that one, Angola were the other team.

It might have been a fix, African football is crazy though.

Division 2, December 21 1957.

Huddersfield Town were beating ten-man Charlton Athletic 5-1 at The Valley with 62 minutes gone.

18 minutes later, Charlton were 6-5 up. On 86 minutes, Huddersfield equalised to make it 6-6, before Johnny Ryan scored with the last kick of the match to win it for the home side 7-6.

That's pretty strange, I'd say.

Gillingham were 4-2 down with 10 minutes left the other week and won 5-4

Edit - just seen Westdene Seagull posted this a few minutes ago

there was that strange thing in the Champions League this season. Think it was Lyon needed to win and hope Ajax lost. A 9 goal defecit needed to be turned around too. Lyon beat Zagreb 7-1 and Ajax lost 3-0 to Real Madrid (games being played at same time)

Slightly off topic but weirdest weather I can remember was Cambridge away late eighties/early nineties when it was okay weather then it rained and was freezeing then it snowed and an orange ball was bought on then before the end of the game there was no snow and the sun was shining ,did I imaging all that or does anyone else remember? ?

Of course there was that one the other day with Bahrain needing a 9 goal swing or something and winning 10-0.

FIFA are investigating, as they should whenever a Peter Taylor team wins by more than 1 goal.

That was definitely the weirdest game I've been to. I thought that the penalty was the winner. I forgot it was a diving header. I also remember that Bob Booker was a scorer for the Blades that day. Crazy stuff!!
