It's at times like this I really miss living towards the top of Freshfield Road. We used to have a brilliant view from our bedroom facing east. Right over the hospital and out to sea. I used to love watching storms at night from up there.

It is a great display tonight. There are simultaneous forks of lightning over a wide area from my viewpoint, as well as sheet lightening across the whole sky.

If you have an iPhone, there's a free app called lightning cam which detects and photographs lightning. I tried to use it earlier this evening in Devon, but the storm didn't come close enough. I would be interested to see if anyone else has any success with it though
