I fancy the London2012 closing ceremony after-party at Hyde Park; Blur, Specials, New Order.

Tried to get tickets on Saturday, they sold out in minutes like all the olympic events, you can still get £348 corporate packages if your feeling flush and want free booze and back stage area with TV's showing the final olympic events prior to the bands.

Indeed. I'm angling for a corporate freebie.

and if so were they any good ,or were theynutter gash..??

Yeah, saw them in Paris in October and at their London gig in December. They were excellent. Basically just did a greatest hits set - mostly old stuff, only a couple of tracks post-Regret. Obviously they are missing Hooky but the stand-in bloke did a sound job.

Good review of their London show from the Evening Standard here:

Has Bernard Sumner still got a huge gut which sticks out the bottom of his t-shirt?

I saw them with Peter Hook about four years ago and they were very good, but it was obvious even from a distance they hated him and he hated them

Blur will be fantastic. I saw them twice in 2009, I have seen them throughout their career but it was only during these gigs I realised what an incredible band they are.

I've only seen them live once - supporting REM, on their Monster Tour, at MK bowl, about 1999 I guess. They MASSIVELY upstaged REM (who for me were better in their more reflective moments, than in the loud rock stage they went through at that time...)

I was always so-so regarding Blur until Glastonbury when they were absolutely fantastic, and converted me to a massive fan.

I believe Carrot Cruncher experienced the same.

Agreed. I've never been a huge Blur fan, but they were great there.
