Meopham, Kent.
West Ham have now denied ever making an offer for Bent because apparently Charlton had made it clear they wouldn't be selling.

So perhaps this had all the truth of that £3m bid we turned down from Cardiff for Bobby.

Exactly right. I mean who is the more insane West Ham for offering it or Charlton for turning it down!

I think Charlton are doing by far the most sensible thing. Their only chance of staying up is if Bent can score enough goals to keep them up really. Also they must be thinking that realistically there's only three (maybe four) teams that could finish below them and selling one of them a consistent striker would be stupid. I'd also imagine that part of the £18m is reliant on West Ham staying up. Add to that the fact that they've got no real chance osigning a quality striker by tomorrow and they've done the right thing

Said exactly the same thing to a Clown fan on BBS, Bent scores 80% of Charlton's goals and unless they have got Thierry Henry lined up as a replacement selling Bent would admit relegation. If West ham had offered £18m at the beginning of January then i am sure Charlton would probably have done some business but a day before the window closes seems a ridiculous time to bid as they wont have time to buy a suitable replacement.
