Gerry had ridiculous heading power. I remember watching in awe as he easily headed the length of the whole church hall that Junior Seagulls training was held in on Newtown Road!I have seared in my mind a bullet header scored by Gerry Armstrong from near the edge of the box into the North Stand goal at the Goldstone circa 1986. I can visualise it so well from my vantage point on the West Stand, even though i was just 12 at the time, half a lifetime ago.
God knows how my memory stands up to reality, it may not have even happened at all, but regardless that will always be the best headed goal i have ever seen.
I was hoping someone else would post this. Absolutely brilliant diving header from a (Storer?) whipped cross on the break.Maskell 2nd against Leyton Orient in the 4 all.
My favourite Albion away experience.Johnny Byrne away to Liverpool in the FA Cup circa 1991, in front of the travelling hordes.
ABSOLUTE LIMBS
