I've been investigating loans on the internet and wanted to check out the best APR rate for a loan, to find out what the Apr on all loan sites you need to fill out a form showing your home phone number, date of birth etc, Later that day i recieved a call they promised me a loan in under 3 days i asked what the APR was they said it will be in the post i said ok, today i have discovered they've charged me £50 for the next day delivery post they sent and the APR is awful!.

It was a terrible mistake by myself but has anyone else made the same mistake and is there anyway of getting my money back?

I found out from experience that if you take the 0% interest balance transfer over a few months that you should only do it onto a card with no balance at the time of transfer. Never use the card whilst the 0% is in force as the cc company uses any future payments made against the 0% loan.

Worth checking the website again to see if it mentions this type of charge anywhere, especailly the small print / terms & conditions.

Did you give them your bank or credit card details ? If not, I'm not sure how they can charge you, but certainly don't pay it.

If you did give them payment details, write straight away stating you were not advised of this charge or agreed to it, so request a refund within 7 days. Also state that if the refund isn't received within 7 days, you will contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Police & the National press / TV.

In these difficult credit times, the media will love a story like this.

That should work !

Yes but i didn't even agree to any loan its actually from a loans website called ADAVANTAGE LOANS, and the fact they charged me £50 for next day delivery from Bournemouth is criminal.
I really need some advise on getting back that money as its extremley important at the moment.

Yes i did made the stupid mistake of giving my bank number thinking it was procedure for them to check my credit-rating but they instead withdrew £50 without even letting me know the APR!

Thanks for your help x

They did mention the charge IF the payment goes through.

anyway of getting my money back?

have they actually taken money? if so you must have given them your card/bank details and it might be tricky as you probably agreed to terms somewhere. if not, and they are just charging you, then i reckon you can probably avoid it. companies do this all the time with invoicing companies for domain name registration, relying on people willingly paying. what was the name of the site for bit of NSC style abuse? im sure they need lots of applications from Ben Dover

answered.... shit that not good. f***ing parasites. hopfully Citizens can help, maybe a small claims will work as it sounds like the services provided are not fair value.

If you google on Advantage Loans, and also their parent company Post Net Ltd, as I just did, they seem to be like a rash on the internet.

Looks like you're not the only one who got ripped off, with every piece of advice I saw saying "avoid them like the plague". Take a look yourself - maybe someone in a similar boat has posted somewhere about how (if) they got their money back.

over the phone... did they say there was any charge? did you agree to anything? probably better for you this way. id be surprised if they mentioned it and you just let it go by, in which case its outright fraud. can you instruct your bank to refuse the payment? just having your account number should not be enough to get money from an account (you give out with cheques and everytime you use your card), they need authorisation. i dont beleive its possible to give authorisation over the phone for a bank charge, theyd need to send somthing to sign.

read a few comments... they are sneaky bastards. though i think some have got their money back. good luck.

You silly boy my wife does voluntary counselling on this type of thing.

Mate if you can't get a loan there is a reason for it especially at the mo.

These shits are a type of broker so as long as fulfill the requirement of trying to find you a loan they are not breaking the law they are the same company as one who promises you a credit card irrespective of your rating.

They say their fee is refundable this postage charge is a relatively new thing
who is going to go to court for £50 if they won't pay up.......the FSA and OFT are powerless.........its the old adage if it appears to good to be true IT IS.

agree completely with hb&b which is rare!

The service they provide you can do yourself or you could think about a local credit union. Unfortunately these scams are on the rise.
